    What program can i use to convert an avi to mp4 but choose a custom aspect ratio as my video file is not of the usual dimension. When i use PSP video 9, any res i choose causes the video to look weird. I need to set up a custom res. Which program will allow that?

    3GP allows u to encode videos to specific sizes. its a lil harder to use the pspV9, so alot of people dont use it, but it has more options

    is there any way to be able to watch movies on a psp at full res?

    i downloaded 3GP yesterday and it seemed super simple... no real setting and options... i didnt see any custom setting options either.

    it depends on what aspect ratio the original file is coded for. if your trying to make a 4:3 video play in full screen, it wont work. the psp is widescreen.

    hmmm.. last i knew 3gp allows u to change your aspect ratio when configuring videos... u sure u have the right one? its primary in japanese but theres enough english to get by

    there is a drop down menu with a bunch of available settings, but nothing that will allow me to customize the aspect ratio. there are only presets.

    all i want is to have the video look like it does on my pc screen... including the bottom and top black bars.

    i reccomend going over to http://www.videohelp.com they have more information then i do about converting files. i havent been there in awhile, so they might have added more about the psp, as well as have better sources for coding videos w/ free software

    i read some where you can go in to 3PG's ini files and change the aspect ratio. I looked in the "transcoding_psp" file and it has a part that lists the ratio. havn't tried it yet, why dont you and let me know ok?

    I have a few questions and comments on video ratio conversion to the PSP.

    What is the screen resolution of the PSP? I read some places it may be 320 x 240 but I am not positive this is correct.

    Videos I have on my computer are in the following resolutions:
    640 x 480
    640 x 360
    640 x 352
    624 x 336
    608 x 342

    When I watch some of the converted files on my PSP they appear squished or stretched. Is there anyway to prevent / fix this? Maybe by setting a custom resolution...

    I use CloneDVDMoble and it gets the job done. Just open up the devices.ini and edit an entry to change your resolution. This is an example of a Max res entry.
    Code:
    [PlayStation Portable (AVC/H264, Firmware Version >= 3.03 OE-B)]
    Manufacturer=Sony
    Res1=480x272
    ResAna1=480x272
    VCodec=h264
    ACodec=aac
    ARate=48000
    ABRate=64
    Volume=400
    Format=lavf
    lavfopts=format=psp
    lavcopts=aglobal=1:vglobal=1:vcodec=h264:coder=1:acodec=aac
    FileType=mp4
    ; Uncomment the two lines below for firmware < 3.03 OE-B
    ;NTSCFrameRate1=29.97
    ;NTSCFrameRateDeinterlace1=29.97
    PALFrameRate1=29.97
    DirPath=MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQ1
    Quality=20
    useMencoder=1
    SubTitle=1
    Please could you stop the noise, I'm trying get some rest
