you shouldn't have any trouble with connecting. did you do a scan for availble access point, and than leave the "SSID" the way it is, and make sure you type in the right wep...the connection name is for you to recognize the connection...but be sure to leave the "ssid" the same when you scan for a access point.
example: under networking settings
1) infrastructure mode
2) new connection
3) scan (this will scan for availble AP, click the one that is yours)
4) SSID (leave the name as it is)
5) choose wep
6) WEP (type in your password)
7) from here you should be pretty much done if you did everything correctly.
