This issue may also be caused by a counterfeit Memory Stick (An OEM Memory Stick labeled as genuine Sony). Counterfeit Memory Sticks are slower than genuine Sony Memory Sticks so the PSP may not be able to load the data in time, triggering the error.

How to determine if you have a counterfeit Memory Stick:

17 - "This Video cannot be played" Why?? 17 - "This Video cannot be played" Why??

ok guys, i had the same problem and i think i found out why. the reason the errors have been coming up is because of the video codec. if you look at the file information on your psp the video codec of the unplayable video is ACI most likely, for some reason the psp play the MPEG4 one perfectly fine. to convert the video from ACI to MPEG4, i used the psp video 9 converter. open it up, next go to convert, then to current conversion. click on convert video and select the unplayable video. to the right, there is a box which is called new video to convert. the title should already be in there, device is psp, and in profile, select the 8th to the last option which should be some sort of MPEG-4 320x240 format. lastly, click start. the video should work on the psp now. hope this helps! any questions just ask

If i do small video files, for example episodes of Family Guy i dont think ive ever had a problem. I have tried downloaded episodes, and ones which i have DVD ripped myself and no problems.
But when i do larger files, like full length movies, at random points (during the first 5-10 mins) the movie will just stop playing and say "This video could not be played" Doesnt happen on all movies, but most.
Why would this be?

Thanks in advance
wut is ur file u need to get a video converter
