Make my PSP useful.. Help

Alright so, I bought my psp around when they first came out and I never really used it a whole lot, mostly just for music and I only had one game.

Today I met this guy that was offering to mod my psp and charging around $25 with unlimited free games. He said that he does mods for ps2 and xbox aswell. Not too comfortable handing over my psp to a complete stranger so I probably wont call him, although I'm new to moding and dont know much.

So really I just was seeking some tips or advice on what my psp can do besides laying in the bottem of my drawer. I would like to get an emulator but tryed a few times and cant seem to make it work. Version 3.11 is my firmware currently, would it be better for me to upgrade, or downgrade maybe?

alright mate
for you to get the most out of your psp you will need to get custom firmware
becuase you are on 3.11 you will need to downgrade to 1.50 first
there are a few ways you can do this either through the tutorial in the downgrade thread or with a pandoras battery.
have a look in the guide section for these threads.
then you can upgrade to custom firmware and use emulator and play backed up games of your memory stick.

do you have any idea how many people fuck that up? It will cost them more then $25 when they fuck up and short out the battery.

could you explain to me how battery will SHORT OUT?
