Try this.
1) Turn your PSP off.
2) Hold R wile booting up.
3) Go to CPU Speed.
4) Make sure they are both Default.
Try that, let me know if its any better.

I recently downloaded the Secret Agent Clank game and tried it on my PSP. It worked fine in the morning but my PSP started to lag horribly in the afternoon.
This happened after I put it to sleep while SAC was playing then woke it up again, which didn't result in it continuing the game but instead going to a laggy XMB.
Tried everything, reformat, updated firmware from 3.80 M33 to 3.90 M33 which I hadn't done until today and reset it using the SELECT menu feature thing.
Any ideas, it's so slow even takes that long just to mount the memory card, making everything you want to do with painful!
Currently using 3.90 M33 release version on a Chinese model (came hacked) fat PSP!

Make Sure That You Format The Memory Card With Windows First,
And Than Through Your PSP.
Ah thanks kmr575... they were both set to 20 for some reason! And it was initially formatted in Windows so shouldn't be a problem JOKesTER!
So so happy!

lol yeahh if you have your CPU speed up high it drains the battery a little more so you might want to keep it reasonable. i used to have a problem similar like that where the ISOs on my memstick would be laggy but it turns out i bought a fake sony memstick online and it was making it read slow. so i got a 8gb sandisk ultra =)
