I don't understand the whole concept of the Pandora's Battery and the Pandora's Custom stuff. Do I need a Pandora's Battery to Run Pandora? What Exactly does the Pandora's Battery do?

Pandora's Battery is a battery with its serial changed to 0xFFFFFFFF. When a PSP battery serial number is changed to 0xFFFFFFFF, or unreadable, the PSP boots the IPL from sector 16 on the physical drive. This unlocks the service mode of the PSP and launches the IPL from the Memory Stick. That IPL is what allows a user to boot into a menu which allows you to install CFW on any PSP thats not a TA-088 V3 or a 3000 series.

So basically after I am done modding the battery and install the CFW, I don't need to use the Pandora's battery anymore, am I right?

Hmm, well, I'm not sure on what bricking is, but if I can use a regular battery and boot my PSP like I normally do then I guess I would have no problem doing that.

A bricked PSP is exactly that...a brick because it has no functionality...normally only happens if you mess with your flash0 or if you do something wrong while updating.

Cool, this is making sense now. I will probably buy a new PSP to Mod it. Making a Pandora's Battery for me will be cake, considering I am good with heating metals and bending them without breaking them. And modding a PSP doesn't seem so hard anymore.

just make sure ur not to grab the new PSP 3000 and try to buy ur PSP @ BestBuy because their u can return a opened system within 30 days (i think). why i am saying to buy @ bestbuy because if ur PSP-2000 came with 4.01/4.05 (not sure which) firmware i wont be able to mod it since its got the newer mobo and if thats the case then return the ssytem and u will get ur money back.

Well it did not come with it, I got it off the website and installed it myself. I'm thinking of buying another one. I have the limited edition Darth Vader one, and I don't feel like messing that one up. So the idea was to buy another one and screw that one up and put on the modifications. Maybe buy the PSP-3000 and change the face plates so the PSP-3000 has the Darth Vader Face plates and the PSP-2000 has the Ratchet And Clank Face Plate. But if the Firmware does not work with the PSP-2000 5.01 firmware on, then there is no way I can do this.
