I have been running custom firmware for couple of years now. Recently, I upgraded to 5.02 Gen-A. Everything was fine, then the screen went black and the only the power light woudl turn on, nothing else. I had thought it was bricked, and today I went to a guy who tried the pandora battery thing. The power did not come on when he inserted the his battery and mem stick.

Previously, the problem was that the screen was black, power light on when ac is plugged, and the system would NOT turn off unless i took out the battery and unplugged the ac adapter (still black streen though).

Today, i realized that if i take the memory stick out and the battery out FIRST, before plugging in the AC adapter, the system DOES turn on and is fully functional, still running 5.02 Gen-A firmware. No other combination works (battery + no mms + ac = nothing, no battery + mms + ac= nothing) Once the system is on, I can insert the battery, which seems to be charging, and i can also insert the memory stick and format it and I even loaded a game on and it works fine. Once the system is up and running, I can unplug the AC adpater and everythign still works fine, UNTIL i turn it off again, after which I cannot turn it back on (black screen, NO power light unless ac adapter is in). Then i have to repeat all the steps again, remove the battery + mms and then plug the ac adpater in for it to power on and insert everythign back again.

Any ideas??

Try using a different battery and memory stick.

It sounds to me like you have a pandora battery, the problem with pandora batteries are that you need a MMS to make your psp turn on. Now if i understand right your psp can not run with the AC adaptor in and the battery out? Have you tried putting in some one elses battery and trying to run your psp.

You are incorrect. you CAN run a PSP with AC adapter only.
