05-23-2009, 01:28 AM Hi, I've picked up a PSP-3001 running firmware 5.02, and I'm wondering what I can do with it with respect to running homebrew and backups. I've been trying to brush up on the subject, but there's a lot of old information to cut through, so I'm not sure I'm getting the big picture.
I've seen something mentioned about a game called Gearshift; do I need a copy of that to do anything? And someone else has mentioned Chicken, what exactly is that all about? Do both/either/none of these allow me to run homebrew? And backups?
I apologize if this is redundant, I wasn't able to easily find everything I was looking for. If someone could answer these for me, I'd appreciate it. I'm hesitant to touch the thing since I know a lot of hacking depends on specific firmware revisions.

Oh, and are there any specific memory sticks recommended for the PSP? It came with a 256MB stick so I'll probably grab something bigger. Can you just throw in any stick, or will speed matter?

05-23-2009, 08:30 PM Thanks. If ISO support were added, would the speed of the stick matter? I don't want to buy the cheapest thing now (which looks to be fine for homebrew) only to find out that it's too slow for other things in the future.
