I need to update my PSP`s Kernel version. Is there a link anywhere that will allow me to download that file and maybe even some instructions on how to do it?

if you're updating the kernel then you're updating the actual firmware what firmware are you on?

I have 5.00 M33-6 cfw

then you're pretty much have the latest firmware kernel, I think I know what your prob is, hold up on the power switch till your psp fully shuts off, hold R reboot and enter the recovery menu, once there make sure you kernel is set to 5.xx rather then 1.5
