HELP! Can't play UMD with v 3.80 M33-5

Hi, I'm quite the noob with this. After customizing the firmware on my Phat PSP to v3.80 M33-5, my PSP doesn't start up properly if a UMD in the slot. Nor does it even show me the UMD icon if i remove it, let the PSP start properly and re-insert it.
I installed a homebrew version if QMixer that plays without a hitch, so I'm quite confused.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated guys.

umd drive may be fucked, same happened with mine, but i temporally got it working. get a pandora and make an mms with DCv8, do an idstorge fix, then install 5.00 m33 with it, if that dont work you got a full blown hardware issue witch in that case, you would have to get another psp with CFW and rip the games with.

I think I might have the same problem. But I know its my UMD Drive motor.

That's a little too hardcore for me. I upgraded my PSP to v5 and although I can run homebrew apps, without a UMD it doesn't seem to start up any of the games on my card.
Any ideas?

um you upgraded to WHAT exactly? btw what xavis meant might sound complicated..you could try flashing 5.00 m33-6 using a pandora and mms, who knows it MIGHT fix it
