How do I do that I don't have custom firmware or anything. It has all official firmware on it. what software do I put on there and where would I find it.
what model do you have?

Sorry I responded so late I have the silver slim I think it is the 2001 series.
should be hackable. so if you get a pandora, you can make an mms and fix this.

Its a PSP-2001 so the only way that I can fix it is by getting a pandora and hacking it. It has never been hacked it is all official firmware. What actually happend to it?

I blew into the umd area and now it works but off and on. Is it possible that it is just dirty? If so how would I clean it or is there another solution? Thanks for all the help
you can try useing an air duster, but to fully clean out the system id use alcohol wipes and opening the psp whitch voids warrenty,so might as well hack your psp and make it better ;P
You may consider using a can of compressed air to GENTLY (NEVER hold the can at a lower angle that 45 degrees) blow out dust from the lens, but that' won't be 100% effective. If the lens is just blocked, that would be a relief, but if it's defective, you may have to simply get it replaced through either warranty or third party... Or maybe.. Yourself. Dealextreme does sell umd drives by themselves, but I suppose it does require lots of knowhow, as it's not exactly a simple faceplate replacement.
Thanks everyone for the help i'll try with compressed air, I have some wips i'll try cleaning the lens if that doesnt work I just replace the drive. Thanks again
