    Hello, I am new to the forums and I'm a n00b and modding PSP's.

    I have the original PSP (1001), PHAT as "you" say. The version is updated to 6.20 and I do not have the Pandora battery. I have been reading about how to mod the PSP and it seems fairly easy with the original PSP. I downloaded every software needed for this, but obviously I cannot continue since I have a version 6.20. Is there anyway possible I can downgrade my PSP to a 5.03 WITHOUT the pandora battery?

    If it is not possible, where can I purchase this battery (will I be able to get this at EB Games or is this a "black market" product).

    Since you are over 5.03, the ONLY way you can truly hack now is with a pandora. You can get pandora batteries off of Deal Extreme, but its slow (like a 2 or more week wait). I would recommend buying an official battery and hardmodding yourself, because it would be quite a bit more time efficient and its pretty easy to do. Don't do it with anything metal, or you can short your battery.

    each man for themselves - whether to make a PB out a genuine PSP battery or to get a pre-fab'd PB from DX.

    a genuine sony psp battery is relatively expensive, compared to cheap DX PB. $50 as opposed to $7

    Aahh, that sucks. I'll try hardmodding a regular battery this weekend or hopefully run across a pandora battery at the flea market. I really thought it would be easier to downgrade the PSP just because it's the original.

    You either hardmod your battery and risk destroying it. Or you buy an already made Pandora for $7 from Dealextreme.

    If you screw up the Hardmod, you'd need to buy a new battery, and by then you'd probably want to just buy a Pandora as well.

    thank you, do I also need a Magic Memory Stick or using my Sony 1GB stick is okay?

    P.S. by any chance do you know how long is delivery on dealextreme.com?

    You add mms files to your MS to make the MMS. Second to last link in my sig, follow the simple readme.txt

    Avg wait time is around 2 weeks i'd say.

    you have figured it out already - but just in case,

    PB = Pandora battery

    DX = DealsExtreme (based in HK)

    pre-fab'd = my abbreviation of pre-fabricated

    the MMS (magic memory stick) can be made out of your 1 gb memstick - as long as its MagicGate capable (?).
