I was transferring a game backup from my computer to a 2gb Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo using the PSP connection, when my computer crashed. After it started back up I checked to see if the file was there, it wasn't, but the free space on my card was about half what it was before (brand new) So the first thing I did was try to format it in the psp, Format Failed Error: 80220087 okay so I plugged the PSP back into the computer and tried to format it via the PC, format failed. Okay, try check disk to recover bad sectors and fix them. Check disk was unable to finish. I'm stuck, anyone else had this problem, or maybe know of a program that will force a card to format?
p.s. If I try to delete the ISO folder(where I was transferring the file), nothing happens it just says Deleting... come back 15 minutes later still deleting. I just tried to delete that folder on my ps3 and got error 8003051E
were did you get them
stick it into the memory card reader, otherwise it won't take.

It's in the memory card reader. Not sure where I got this particular card I've had it in a box for a couple years (bought it for a digital camera) but never used it. Got it out today, put some music on it to test it out and it worked fine. Then when I went to put that bigger file on it, my computer crashed(not the PSP's fault, my computer is a P.O.S.) during the data transfer and now the card seems to be effectively broken unless someone knows a way to fix i. Tried formatting it on the PSP and PC, through the PSP connection and through my printer to try and read it that way, no go.
sounds like the card has become corupt. Can u plug the memory card strait in to your computer and format it / run chkdesk?
Yeah I think I'll just have to get a new card. I tried that program and it told me that the card was write protected, and I needed to flip the switch. There is no switch.
I plugged it straight into my computer(forgot it had slots) but it was still a no-go.
did you try to right click it, check the properties, maybe you can change the write protection there...works sometimes.

No write-protection settings when I right click on the drive. I'm tempted to send it back to Sony but when amazon has 2gb mem sticks for 10 bucks, is it really worth it? I bought this card 4 years ago (5yr warranty, didn't open it until yesterday) but I dont even know what store nor do I have the receipt.
you may have a virus on the stick...i searched around for your error, everyone that has gotten that, when all else failed they virus scanned it and found it was infected...so maybe try that

Good point Matty, the OPs PC might be a POS because its virus infected and one found its way into his MS.
wow finally calling me by my name, nice lol...kept searching around, doesn't make sense how it's write protected without a switch.
best solution i could find for him...

When you view the contents of your MS what does it show??, folders?? data??, can you drag and drop the contents off of your MS??
i also saw, if you're running linux and plugged that in, it should auto detect if it indeed is infected...i don't run linux but that's what i saw people posting up.
