Well, just read "My son kill the psp" and sounds like you can only downgrade from 6.20 if it had full cfw before it was upgraded? I hope that I am misunderstanding that. Still want to know for sure if I should give up.

Is it possible to downgrade a hackable psp slim firmware 6.20? I have read through a bunch of the tutorials and similar questions already asked, cant seem to find a definitive answer. It looks like with a pandora it is possible, as the original firmware could not have been 6.20, right?
Bought it re-furb at gamestop (wanted to find a positively hackable slim, but was buying with trade credit) and it was already at 6.20 but I noticed that on xmb their is an icon "PSP Update ver. 3.73". Anyway, wanted to be positive before I ordered pandora battery. I feel like I read somewhere that if you were at 6.20 you were SOL.
Try to go a little easy on me, I am definitely a noob, but I have read a shit load about all this.

So as long as my motherboard is not the ta-088v3 or newer I can still hack?
It won't be an issue that it has already been upgraded to 6.20?
I could care less about paying the $7, just didn't want to waste my time or have to explain to my wife why I decided to destroy my new psp, if their wasn't at least a chance I could downgrade and hack. Thanks for your help.
6.20 or higher doesnt matter with a pandora battery. ive bounced back and forth from 5.0 m33-4 custom firmware to 6.20 original sony firmware back and forth about 6 times already.
if your interested theres actually a way to keep the highest sony firmware and emulate the custom firmware environment using a test mode as well. so you get the best of both worlds. i cant link yet so you will have to search the forum for the thread. should be something along the lines of keep OFW and boot into custom firmware best of both worlds. basically you can run custom firmware without actually flashing. so you keep the sony firmware on there. switching between the 2 enviroments is a matter of switching batterys.
