PSP analog sticks not working right

I can move the analog stick around fine but any game that involves using the directional arrows and the analog stick its almost as if the analog stick is stuck in a down position. for example in peace walker i press right on the directional pad to switch weapons and occassionally i start moving downwards to the right without me doing anything. also sometimes when using the analog stick it wont let me move upwards and to the left because its forcing me to go downwards. ive tried cleanin around the directional pad and analog stick with a toothpick but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Well theirs of couple of options you can try.

1)Try turning the analog stick in a 360 degree turn clock wise and counter clock wise a couple of times.
2)Get the face plate off and blow on the analog stick till all dust and debris are gone.
3)If that doesn't work you can always buy another analog stick and replace it.

Well i've tried method 1 numerous times. It fixes it for a short period of time but the problem always comes back. Ill try method 2. gonna have to scrounge around for a dissassembly guide

The dissasembly guide is the easy part, its trying to find a screwdriver small enough thats starting to tick me off i have the same problem you have.
