Hi everyone what's going on. I just had a question about the 3000 model PSP System, and I wanted to know pretty much if it can be modded, for obvious reason's. I've heard from a friend of mine that it can't be modded and any attempts at trying to results in "bricking" your PSP but I just wanted to come online and ask some more experienced people about it, because I'm looking to purchase a PSP system and I'm not sure of which version to get 2000/3000. Thanks, if my question seems fuzzy to you, then just ask again what I mean and I'll try and be more clear about it.

Your friend is right. There is half-byte loader but that isn't a hack, only an exploit if I remember right. Don't attempt to hack your 3000, you'll only brick it.

Alright thank for the info I appreciate it. Say I want to be able to mod my psp, should I look into purchasing a 2000 aka Slim model? or would I run into problems with that model also.

Your guaranteed best bet is to get a 1000 model psp. Any 1000 model psp, yes the serial numbers change like PSP 1000, 1001 and so forth. All psp 1000 models are hackable. 2000 model psps are iffy and you have a 50/50 chance.

Yeah, that sucks to hear that it was sold. You can get one used at gamestop for 100. That's what I did but I traded in my DS to get the PSP. The trade with gamestop has been worth it.

Yea I know. I haven't used it in a long time but even when I would try when it's charging it would turn on. I think if anything I'll need a new battery and I'll get a pandora one if that so I can be able to mod my psp for my liking, ya know?.

Depending on what your current psp firmware is, we can determine whether or not you will need to buy a pandora for downgrading purposes.

Yea I hear you, once I talk to my friend he sold it to, traded it in I should say cause my friend owns his own comic book/game store I'll see if I can get it back without paying for it. I'll post an update once I get my psp back.

Another friend of mine was saying the 1000 psp model the fat one, that the framerate and everything is all screwy and its just big changes from the 2000 model and so on, is that right about what he's saying?

The only difference between the 1000 and 2000 models is the difference in RAM memory i think. Don't worry about what your friend says, the framerates are the same on the 1000 and 2000 models. Just get a 1000 or a hackable 2000.

Get a 1000 for the best case scenario.

Wow, if the guy is telling the truth and you buy it new for 100 bucks, you score. Those things sell for 100 used, not new. I am skeptical but you got the deal, not me.
