Alright, I, quite literally, just updated my PSP to 5.00 m33-6 (Although my system information still says the Software version is 5.50 Prometheus), and now I'm unable to load anything off of my memory stick (I would test out a UMD, but I'm didn't bring any with me to my dorm).

I try to launch anything, a game, an updater, and the PSP flashes to the white screen--"PSP Playsation Portable"--and freezes there for a few seconds. Afterwards, it shuts off.

I have no idea what needs to be done.

What did you use to create the magic memory stick?

I downloaded the 500M33-6 file, placed the folder in my PSP/Game, then went through the installation on my PSP, just I had done to get to all the versions prior to it.

You cant downgrade a 5.50 Prome to 5.00m33 like that.
You need hellcat for what you want to do.

Alright, well, I can't launch Hellcats anymore because I can't launch anything anymore.

So basically, my PSP is bricked without it actually being bricked then, yeah?

Nope, it crashes and shuts off before the screen even turns on.

EDIT: That said, I can access the 5.50 VSH Menu, if that counts for anything.

Thats a hardware issue then not a software.
A fully corrupted nand even loaded to at least the wave or sits for 7 seconds then shuts off.

So there's nothin' I can do then?
    Can't edit any files manually?

I can't believe I'm the first person to try installing M33 after Prom 5.50...

    Alright, that's reassuring.

And, being a guy that knows positively nothing about anything when it comes to this stuff, flash? I'm able to access some 'Flash' folders via USB and my VSH menu--there isn't something I can do through that to fix it, right?
