I was hoping that someone might be able to help me. This is my current situation:

I have a PSP 2003 that was previously modified and was working fine until my cousin upgraded it. I decided that instead of paying to get it modified again I would try and do it myself and from reading about I realised I needed a pandora battery which I haven't been able to find anywhere but I spoke to a guy in an eletronics shop and he told me I could make my own. He sold me an old thick battery that doesn't fit properly in my PSP but said that this would be perfect for creating a pandora and this is where I am basically stuck.

I've looked all over the place and I'm a completely overwhelmed noob. All the instructions I can see mention cutting open the battery but I'm fairly sure that the guy in the shop was saying that with this fat battery I don't need to do that. Most of the guides I have come across are already requiring my PSP to be on CFW which it is not.

Basically my situation is I have the following:

PSP 2003 with standard battery on official firmware 6.1
    Extra fat battery
    1 x 8gb memory card + 1 x 4gb memory card

Please can you help me get back to a state where I can get a nice new CFW on the machine.

Thank you all in advance for your help. I'm literally pulling my hair out and don't want to travel without my PSP.

you have to open the battery by using a knife, DONT STAB IT!. put the side of the knife in the gap of the 2 sections, then tell me

    use this video for reference

I don't seem to be able to open it up I'm just roughing up the edges of the battery. I don't have a solder either. In the video his just pops off and I'm literally carving mine to pieces.

Ok, I've opened it up and it looks absolutely nothing like that video. The battery is metallic all over with a very small board on the top.

sir, you have a 2000 series battery on your hands
a proper fat battery would have a board roughly the size of the battery itself (metallic inner battery, not the plastic outer shell)

    Hi SonyFoLife,

Can you tell me what that means in terms of having a pandora battery? I can probably just about tape it back together if it's worth keeping?

    Thanks.
