ONE (Skip to TWO if you can already tell you dont like me) - Okay. So I have been going to a quite a few "newb help" threads looking for the exact answers I need, to no avail. First guide was poorly written and didnt end up working, second one had a lot of colorful letters and roman numerals and I felt like I was so alone in the world and that I should know what to do but didnt even know where to begin, and finally when I found a simple, clean, well-written guide the links I was sure were the ones I needed...were all dead.

TWO - So heres where I stand - I have the original "phat" PSP with Sony's Firmware Version 6.20, and I want to do whatever I have to do to get this bitch into whatever version I need it to be in to run homebrew apps and all that good stuff. I would really like it if someone could A., either link me to a thread that is simple and specifically tailored for this situation, or B., please help me out step-by-step in this thread.

    -Much Appreciatingly yours, me.

You'll need a Pandora battery and Magic Memory Stick before you can do anything else.

I'd encourage you to read the rules for the forum. They're pretty straightforward and there aren't many of them. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/introdu...uncements.html

Yeah, I gathered that from the few threads I read. Its my understanding I can do this without actually purchasing anything? I know the MMS is easy, but what about the Pandora Battery?

Edit - Im not a cheap ass by the way, I will buy one if I have to, but if there is another way I would prefer to take it.

Yep, you can buy one from DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Worldwide Free Shipping - DX for a whopping $5. Money well spent IMO.

Thats...Extremely cheap and sounds good. But just out of curiosity, is there a way for me to do it without buying one? I read a few threads that indicated it was possible to convert a normal battery to a PB, and then back again. Its not a money issue as much as it is a "I want this done tonight" issue.

As Slowman said you will need both a Pandora battery and Magic Memory Stick.

As you said the MMS is easy. As for the Pandora battery if you want to give a try making one before you buy one. I would recommend having more then one PSP normal battery as its hard to put back to normal if at all, and can't be used as a normal battery.

If you just want to buy one use Slowman's link and search "Pandora battery".

As for a great guide i am not sure what can be found on the site as i am pretty new here.

But here is a great youtube video i have used once myself. It walks your through step-by-step how to make the MMS and everything else. It also provides the MMS files to install 5.00 m33-4(CFW).

After you are done run the update for m33-6 he shows this in the video.

    Code:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh5BbDCuV74
5.00 m33-6 will let you run homebrew apps, iso games and so one.

This is not part of the video but if you want to be able to play 6.XX-required games without any difficult, no ISO patching or nothing. then you can install Prometheus-4 for 5.00 M33-6. PM me for download link

Alright gents, the deed is done!

I ended up hardmodding my battery and putting it back to normal, worked fine, started spitting a little bit of fire at me and Im pretty sure by tomorrow my battery will be dead as Elvis, but I got the right firmware version on there now so Ill just use wall power until I order a new one (assuming my battery doesnt survive the night, if it does, woot).

Thank you slowman, for giving me a site to buy a new battery. Thank you josiec09 for the link which I used after I messed with the battery. And thank you dankgame for that link and just plain posting in the thread!

    =]

So next step! Where should I start to get some games on this beast?
