my psp is fairly old (phat). i'm sure there is a ton of build up inside, not behind the screen, i dont care much about that. i was wondering about a can of duster but i wouldnt want to blow anything deeper or what not.

what is your opinion on cleaning inside and out?

The PSP isn't like the PS3, or other consoles with holes on it's side(s) where dust particles can enter. I've opened up several PSPs for various things, and they're usually pretty clean inside. I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah, that is definitely understandable. the only concern would be through the umd slot. there is visible build-up but it's not THAT bad. without exit holes i guess blowing debris inside isn't a good idea now that i think about it. i have never used the stuff anyways.

oh and what about buttons sticking?

Dust is really only an issue if you've got the PSP in a pants pocket constantly. Even then, as Vanz__ said, the PSP actually stays pretty clean. It's once you open it then you expose the screen and it becomes subject to dust flecks. They're obnoxious but if you have a can of air duster but you can pick most flecks out and clean it with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol.

Buttons sticking; a common issue, more so with the original Phat PSP. Sometimes you can just put a drop of rubbing alcohol in the sticky area of the button and that will free it up. Just remove the battery from the PSP first.

If this doesn't work then you can file it. I've had luck taking a very fine file (or the fine side of a fingernail emory board if you have women living with you or you're slightly metrosexual), and filing a bit off the sticky area on a particular button.

Make sure to use a air can, to prevent any damages anyway.

And for the love of your PSP, TAKE OUT THE BATTERY FIRST, no matter what you're doing.

Nah I've never done that, but if you use the search function on this site, you'll find plenty of people who have.
