Ok my GF boy wanted a PSP, I picked up a pre modded one from a forum. It a 1001 fat, it has Sys software 5.00 M-33-6

It has a few games on (rpg, FF, Star Ocean, Xenogears) it that work and a SNES EMU. I did some reading and copied a few more CSO games to the ISO dir. All show the image and animation when on the game select, but NONE will work. the System appears to reboot.

I have read a bot about modding it, but I'm unclear about proceding when its already modded. How do I figure out what mod I have, and the version of it I have?

I am assumign as its modded it has the Memory stick (modded too?) and the battery? How do I fgure that out?

Sprry for questions< i did read the faqs, but unless i missed the "what mod do you have" area i dont see much on where to start if you have a modded one already and want to update.

thanks and sorry for the noob post.

nah, no worries. we like well-informed 'noobs'. as for your question, just go to system information in the system menu. it'll tell you what cfw you have.

if your battery was modded and stick also you would not be able to get to the xmb only the cfw menu so your good there and it only give error when using cso or dose it happen to the psx games? if it happens to psx games the you might need popsloader to run them and if it the cso's make sure there put in the ISO folder on the root of the memory stick also if there not running they might need a higher firmwear to run so gran the prometheus patch for m33-6

cowboy: System menu just says Sys SOftware: 5.00 m33-6
Nickname (assume this is user assigned?)
    and mac address, nothing else

Dank: My memory card has an ISO folder whre the games that work are run from. it has a seplugin folder with POP LOADER in it.

you mention prometheus patch for m33-6, just one question if i skip a patch will i have issues?

I think i can figyure out how to patch it.. i just dont wanna break/brick it

See here in lies the problem. I got this PSP used and modded (and no info on the mod). I have never modded one, but can follow the instructiosn (have done lots of console modding). I have no idea if my Battery has the mod, and cant seem to find any instructions on how to tell. From my reading it appears the battery mod is needed when you mod it, but once done its isnt (but some updates still require it.. correct me if IM wrong).. As I dont know if the battery is modded or not I need to know that before I start.

My whole problem is it is modded, but Im not sure the mod, and such. As it appers M33-6 is a mod (way I understand it).

Games do play on it now so I am assuming POPS is working. (as mentioned Star Ocean, a couple Final Fantasy games and Xenogears) all the games i have got since do not.

your on full cfw m33-6 no you dont need a moded battery to update and you can use hellcats recvoery flasher if it ever was to brick thats in section two of that guide

ok turn on your psp while holding the R trigger it will take you to the recovery menu goto plugins and see if pops is enabled cause when you load a psx game you should have to hold the R trigger to get the pops menu then you pick the one that is compatibal with your game here is a list PSX on PSP Compatibility List - TheGamersPress

thanks Dank that should help.. I may have screwed up, I updated with the link you gave me in section 7 and now only one game shows up (xenogears, its not an iso) and it has an error that its failing some check.

I am assuming the update maybe shut some stuff off (pop loader) so will check that and post back.

MANY MANY thanks for bearing with the noob.. If i was starting from scratch this might have been easier. Going step by step.. but starting in middle is confusingme a bit (and Im pretty easy to confuse) And I must admit reading all the FAQ's and how too's makes this look a tad duanting. Im used to one mod that works and everybody uses it.. somany choices

Once again thanks Dank, being very patient with me. I will follow your video instructions. one more question. I wont need the pandora battery for any of this? (err jsut read section II, no mention of pandora, so guess my answer is no).

Worked like a charm but a couple questions. Should I remove any files? Im assumig the ones that run on the games(memory stick) can be removed so they are not run by accident. how about the ones i put in the root of the memory card?

and last one It broke my SNES emu.. assume it was fro an older PSP firmware. Any guides on putting a new one on anywhere?

MANY MANY Thanks was easy with your video.. gotta dmit it looks pretty complicated when you read it all.
