I have sony PSP-3004 with Battery Pack 3.6v 1200 mAh, Memory stick PRO-HG Duo and I have the PSP to computer's usb cable

one day when I powered my PSP I found initial setup screen, asking to set the time and date then press x-button ....
when I set the date and time and press the x-button nothing happen ....
I sent it to a friends service center to test the x-button and it is working perfectly and he told me it's a software issue ...

can anyone help telling me how to install firmware or anything I can do to solve it without sending to the service center...

thanks in advance for your help guys

Remove the battery and put it back in then power on and hold R trigger that should put you in recovery menu
When in recovery menu first option is toggle USB connect PSP to PC via USB and select the first option
Then download 6.20 PRO B8 unzip and put the proupdate folder in PSP/GAME and rename proupdate to RECOVERY
Now you need to select the option in Recovery menu that says Run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP

When done with that download a PSP Module Checker unzip and move files in GAME to (drive letter):PSP/GAME/(new folder your choice of name)/(contents of rar PSP/GAME) run from XMB and tell me if your PSP is 03g 04g 07g or 09g

why don't you just update to ofw 6.39 right now...see if it all works after that, then we can get you reinstalled with 6.39LME-9 no problem, but try the official network update to 6.39 and post back

Fine after searching I found the steps is as follows
    1. connect psp to computer.
    2. extract UPDATE folder in /PSP/GAME
    3. plug off from psp from computer and go to game menu in psp.
    4. run 6.39 update

---> but I can't see my PSP on my computer in the 1st place and can't go to game menu as I am stuck on the initial setup screen ...

so how can I update to ofw 6.39 any tutorials or any help on where to start ?!!!

Thanks in advance guys for your time, I appreciate it

OK, try this, hold down "R" trigger and continue holding down while you boot up. If that doesnt work, try this, hold down "start" "select" and "X" "O" all at the same time while you boot up. If that doesnt work, try "start" "select" "square" "triangle" while you boot up. If that doesnt work, try "L" trigger while you boot up

---> any other way I could do to install any software compatible with my PSP-3004 and then it'll be easier managing to change it ?

Didn't think I'll get this many replies, I believe this forum is gr8 and I am sure we'll find something I can do
