What is the best way to stream (not download/copy) videos from a PC to PSP (2001, 6.60, non moded, not sure MB ver). PC is Win7/6core.. plenty of power to transcode on the fly.

TVersity won't work, it 'tries' to reencode/transcode videos to transfer them... but the unit times out before it ever happens. All others are either file converters or require 1.50 fw, like pmpmod or pimp.

All I want to do is watch videos I already have encoded to mp4 on my HD, though they are in high/full rez.. I don't want to re-encode or keep multiple copies just for psp viewing. Really shouldn't be that hard, but sony apparently loves making things hard. If I have to go all the way to a CFW and such, ok...but, to JUST watch videos, streamed, on an unmodded unit would be preferable. Our PS3 is in blinkyLOD and needs fixed, in case that is one way to do it.

And yes, I have been searching online for the answers... the information is way, way too convoluted at this point.

Hmmm..Well I'm not to sure on how to stream videos from a pc to a PSP like that. Now you could put some cfw on your PSP and run PSP tube. It lets you watch videos from Youtube without downloading. You just pick the video and there you go. But in your case I don't know if the videos you have are on youtube. There is a program that basically allowes you to control your pc from your PSP. And that may be what you are looking for...

Heres a video I found of the program:
How To Control Your PC Using A PSP [HD] - YouTube

I have no idea if it lets you watch movies, but it may be worth the try. I'm pretty sure it doesn't take cfw, but I maybe wrong.

No, these would be local lan, mp4s... there are two homebrews out there, but, those require cfw.

I am looking for a way to do it without cfw if possible. If cfw if the -only- way, well, then.. the process begins
in modding and so forth a 2001 unit, if MB code permits, to allow it. But, this unit is my son's.. he just wants to
watch videos on it, he is 10.. and I'm not fond of cracking a youngn's psp and either bricking it or him having issues.

If it can't be done, it cant be done.. so be it. Just figured I would save the what-if's and ask the people who poke
and prod these devices all say..

I really don't think there is a way to do it without cfw...but the cfw process is very easy and you shouldn't have any issues with it. All you have to do is run a simple file on the psp and your done. It's not like back a couple years ago when you had to crack the battery open and mod your memory stick. And with the new cfw, it is almost impossible for you to brick your psp.
