i don't know if what is the problem in your adapter, for me, i'm using a dual slot adapter with 8gb in each slot..
maybe your 1gb or the adapter is the problem..
try using other MicroSDHC..

Hi,
I purchased a "StarJade SDHC MicroSD (TF) to Memory Stick MS Pro Duo Adapter Sleeve" from DX.com (StarJade SDHC MicroSD (TF) to Memory Stick MS Pro Duo Adapter Sleeve - Free Shipping - DealExtreme) and received it in the mail today. I have a 1GB SanDisk microSD card, which I have put in the sleeve. While it reads just fine on my computer, it does not seem to want to read on my PSP. I attempted to format it on my PSP, won't even read the thing. I then went ahead and formatted it on my computer--still nothing. I've had this PSP for a while: it's a fat 1001 model running 3.50. Not sure what to do, but I'd like for it to be able to read the memory stick.
Thanks,
Phil.

i think u should have bought the 8 G memory stick pro duo because it works just fineand keep a 1 GB for Hacking purposes ( DC + Pandora)
anyway
You need to update your PSP, this will require a card your PSP recognises, you should have been supplied with a card when you bought your PSP, the 4GB and 8GB cards are only supported by newer updates. Download the update from the playstation website and then try using your 1GB Card, Also try formatting your memory card again...
and one other thing u shouldn't buy it online it may be a fake memory...see this video ...SONY MEMORY STICK PRO DUO WARNING 16GB 32GB - YouTube and this one too
Fake 4GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo from Ebay - YouTube
if u r sure its not fake
