I was going to get my brother a psp for his birthday and was wondering which one I should get. I want to be able to have him play PSP isos and PSX eboots along with other old school emulators. Should I just get a psp 1000 are those the best or are the newer ones better systems? Any advice is appreciated thanks

Remember, 1000 and fully hackable 2000 can use full CFW(m33. GEN, PRO or ME) while TA-088v3 Slims, 3000 and PSP Go use "lite" CFW (PRO without CIPL and LME). I would recommend ME and LME because it is what I use

What's the difference between between fully hacking and lite hacking? is it just that you don't need to reload it when the system shuts down? mine has the LME and it seems pretty awesome except for that one thing. How much better could the full hack be?

TA-088v3 Slims, 3000 and PSP Go can only use "Lite" CFW because they are not fully hackable. All you have to do is run a "launcher" for LME or a "fast recovery" for PRO and it re-boots into "Lite" CFW

Hey guapo thanks for all the help. I just got the psp 1001 in the mail. It has OFW 2.82 on it already. To use CFW should I upgrade to 6.60 OFW and then use the 6.60 ME

you should be able to install cfw right on top of that! or downgrade! but the easiest way is to use a pandora battery with a magic memory stick(jigstick) which can be made from a previously hacked psp or with a nifty little box that switches the mode of the battery from normal to service mode! or a nifrty battery like this
Service Mode Unbricker/Downgrader Battery for PSP 1000 (1800mAh) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
they didnt have these when i fist started hacking psps

^^^^ no longer the best way, just upgrade to 6.60 and then grab the latest build for 6.60 me and do as you said.
Remember though full cfw's are for 1k only(also some 2k's)
In an Ideal world I would have all ten fingers on my left hand and my right hand would just be used for punching.

I'll be the number two guy here on PSP MOD in six weeks, How? Name repition, personality mirroring and never breaking off a handshake. I'm always thinking one step ahead like a...carpenter that makes stairs.
