Hi everyone, long time lurcher but new as a member
became the proud owner of a champagne gold phat psp last week, purely because i had never seen a gold one before and thought it must have been special...
after a google bash, low and behold its some sort of rare limited edition?
which would explain the Jap firmware...
my question to you all is how rare exactly is it? i read somewhere that 22,000 where made as part of a (japan only) monster-hunter bundle.
sadly i don't have the bundle :-/
anyone here got one?
Being its from Japan, I would have to say that its not common.

Hmmm... in my opinion, the question of something modern being rare or not can be answered by going to eBay and searching for it. If you can't find one and there are none in completed listings either then you have something rare or at least uncommon.
I've never seen or heard of a Champagne Gold Phat. Please upload some pics if you can!
here's one of the links i got information from:
Sony goes bling with new Champagne Gold [Update 1] | Joystiq
it does!
apart from a small chip in the top right corner which probably explains why the umd drive doesn't work, and that explains why i managed to get it for £15 :-) lol
From the article you linked...
That, in my opinion, makes it rare. If not the rarest of all PSPs that I'm aware of. Here's why.Only 22,222 bundles will be sold, making it a real collector's item.
71.3 million PSPs have been sold worldwide since launch. 22,222 of them are Champagne Gold. 0.0003% of PSPs sold! That is rare!
bloody hell!
i'm impressed, and slightly worried about damaging it in future lol.
however, as a console only, its probably not worth more than any other phat, I've already got a LCFW running and am very impressed with the battery life (compared to my last 3DS) oh and the sheer awesomeness that come with what I've learned about emulation and various other hacks from this fine forum ;-)
cheers for the answers guys, and slowman for the number crunch ;-)
There's only one in completed listings on eBay that can be seen here, this price seems about right to me - Sony PSP 1000 Base Pack Gold Champagne Handheld System | eBay
The only other one currently up is at Buy-It-Now for $185 which is entirely too much to ask, they're just hoping for someone to get excited over it and make a poor purchase decision. - EXTREMELY RARE Champagne Gold Sony PSP!! | eBay
So it is worth a fair bit more than any other color. Both of them made a mistake by not listing it as an auction starting at 99 cents. That makes people go crazy and I wouldn't be surprised to see one listed like that go for $100 - $120.
Take a look at the barcode sticker that's just below the home bar. What number is at the end of "PSP-100x"?

Ok, if there's a 0 on the end of that then it's a Japanese model. I doubt this bundle was released anywhere else.
cool, cheers slowman
it'll probably be up for sale in a few weeks, i get bored easily lol
