I've just installed NesterJ and SNES9xTYL on my PSP. I love the NES emulator, but the SNES emulator runs pathetically slow, especially on my favorite games like Tetris Attack and Secret of Mana. From what I have read, there is nothing I can do to fix this after I increase the speed to 333mhz and adjust the frame skip.

This post isn't so much about fixing the SNES emulator as it is about other emulators and their performance. Since the PSP can run N64 games, I can only assume that the slow down must be something to do with the SNES emulator software...how do he other emulators fare? Specifically, Sega Genesis, MAME, and the NEO-GEO emulators? Do these also suffer terrible slow-downs, or do they run without a problem?

not very experienced, but before the emulators you mentioned worked great on my psp. since then ive upgraded and downgraded and back up to 3.4oea and havent had a chance to try them again. i did attempt to run the mame and it wouldnt even load. the n64 ran kinda choppy so i deleted it. right now im concentrating on putting my psx games on my psp. so far i got ff7 and castlevania symphony of the night. both run great and no problems so far. but the snes and nes emulators worked fine for me before. gonna have to give them another shot as soon as i find my roms. good luck

SNES emulators go slow because it is to lazy. But, they are lazy because they aren't fully developed yet. So wait a while for the next release. Also, I think that mode 7 graphics on SNES games slow down the emu. Because all the roms I have that use that slow down some. Though, Earthbound is very playable even though it slows down very slightly. Super MArio RPG on the other hand slows down to a point that it takes an hour to get to the town for me. So just wait. PLay Doom or use a GBA emulator. Maybe one day your dream will come true.

It sounds like slow downs are a SNES problem only. Does this mean that the other system's emulators; specifically Genesis and Neo Geo, run fine?

also make sure when you using the snes emulator dont touch the joystick cause sometimes you accidently touch it. the emulator goes into TURBO MODE and for some reason TURBO MODE slows down the emulator
