Xenogears (PSX) Freeze When Equiping to Gear

When you go to "Equip" something to your gear, I get a red screen and the game freezes. Does anyone know how to fix this? PLEASE HELP ME!!


I use 3.40 OE-A and I also have tried the SLPS-01222 game ID trick with this game and it does not fix this crash....its the only crash I've come by in the game though.

Sorry dude I have tried Xenogears on every possible custom firmware and nothing, freezes everytime.

Other games I'd like to play but cant:
Suikoden 2 is the same (freezes at mist boss).
FF8 doesnt work
Crono Cross doesnt work

If anybody knows how to get these to work please help me out!!

When I go to Gear then I go to Equip the music freezes and the screen freezes...it still allows me to press Home and Quit Game though....I've tried SLPS-01222 Game ID and the japan game id and other game id's to see if that would fix it, no change. I can't equip anything to 2nd player or 3rd players gear.

FF8 just needs SLPS_01222 for the GAME ID on all DISCS. Fixes the crashes (freezes) but slows down on going to next screen / casting magic / sometimes in FMV's. Its a sacrifice you have to make to play FF8 and I believe Chrono Cross requires the exact same thing (SLPS_01222) as the game ID to get it working without crashes. I heard theres no side effects for Chrono Cross though.
