I ripped my own copy of FF8 and then used popstation to make it into an eboot file with the keys.bin together. I also checked the PAL > NTSC box because I have the PAL version.
I tried it on my PSP and it shows the Playstation logo and after that just stays black, nothing comes up.
So my question is, does the PAL > NTSC fix actually change the game to NTSC? If it does, what am I doing wrong? Is there actually no way to convert it to NTSC? Does FF8 PAL version work for other people? Do I need the original NTSC game?
Also, I now have a corrupt data file since I deleted the eboot and keys.bin off my psp.

    I have firmware 3.40 oe-a

EDIT: Here are some things that I just noticed that might help people answer. It seems that the Game ID in popstation didnt change for FF8 since I made my NTSC FF7 into an eboot. Is this the problem? Did I make an eboot with a Game ID that is exactly the same as another eboot on my psp and therefore does not work?

    Hi Croyles,

I am glad to help you again~haha

Try using [PSP] Simple Popstation GUI v3.00 beta or PSX2PSP v1.2. Personally, I prefer the former. But either one is fine. I never really have any problems when converting PAL > NTSC. Try these programs out, check the "PAL fixed" and see how it goes.

Particularly, FF8 requires specific Game ID to fix random crash. Read Database Error (I posted maxconsole forum instead of pspmod because the former has discover various Game ID that works with FF8). Currently, most people use RE2 Game ID for FF8, fixed random crash, but lags big time. There are other Game ID like Dino Crisis that helps fix random crash, no lag, but at other expense e.g. crash when using zell's limit or something else, I cannot remember. Well, just read the maxconsole thread.

In conclusion, I would recommend you to try to get your hands on NTSC, since PAL screen is smaller and is sometimes distorted, sucks big time.

thx a lot lancermagi! I read through that whole thread.
I guess i gotta use the NTSC version. As for the freezes or slowdowns, I'll be trying the RE2 ID, set to CPU speed 333 with 0% camera movement and hopefully it will work ok ^^
Battery will run out faster, but oh well.
