General EMU questions.

Hi,

I have several general EMU questions.

I know it's illegal and not allowed to talk about roms so I’ll skip that part. But I was wondering is it still illegal if you possess the actual physical game and the rom? Kind of like making personal backups of PSP, PSX, ect… games.

I want to know if there are any ways to maximize your PSP for emulation. Currently I’m using snes9xTYL. It works great on some older games but newer SNES games with better graphics I often get stuck with low frame rates. I have tried switching to 333 Mhz and changing video modes but still it lags to an annoying/unplayable level. I have seen videos on you tube and such with ppl emulating N64 and games running at full speed I’m just wondering what I’m doing wrong with my system.

Currently I am using a FAKE Sony 1 gig stick and I was wondering if having an inferior MS with lower X-fer speeds was possibly the issue. But the stick works just fine when I rip Iso’s off my UMD and play from the stick.

Also is there a list of recommended EMU programs for each platform or recommended platforms to run on PSP.

I would appreciate any advice on maximizing my PSP for emulation or any advice on PSP emulation.

Well I know for starters that its only illegal to have the ROM if you do NOT own the original game.

There is some additional options you can change in snes9XTYL to raise up your framerate. If you go to the Misc options in the menu and select the Hack/debug menu.

Inside there turn on Ignore Fixed Colour. Turn off Ignore Windows Clipping. Turn off Add/Sub modes. Turn on Ignore Palette writes. Turn On Fix HiRes Hidden details. Turn On Fast Sprites. Turn off BG3.

Those help alot of the time.
