cwcheat with Grandia- my epsxe save shows up as corrupt. Please help

I've been playing Grandia on epsxe for a while, and now that I can play it on my psp, I'd really like to not start over. I found out about CWcheat and tried that to load my save. I saved my epsxe memory card file in the correct directory with the correct name, and when I go to load it in-game, the game seaches the mem card and says "load failed" and "save data is damaged" where the save should be. Did I miss something? Does it just not work with this game? Any ideas? Thanks.
