in the same folder as nesterJ... make a CHEAT folder.
get your Game Genie codes and type them into a ".txt" document

place the .txt into the CHEAT folder and load it from the nesterJ's menu....

it works... i used it on Punch-Out!!! (knocked out Mike in 22 seconds... LOL.)

Copy paste the cheats to a .txt name it the same name as your rom file (just to be safe) start NesterJ and click Load Cheat File. Navigate to wherever you saved the cheatfile (Created a Cheat folder) then select your file. Doesn't look like you get an option of enabling / disabling specific cheats, it just loads every code you have in the file.

I am still stuggling on how to do this, this is hard to understand and frustrating also

My only question is how to arrange the cheats IE: adsvfhjz. like how to put the codes in, on note pad and if you have to put one cheat per note pad or put all the codes in one notepad. aslo I have the game genie codes but do you have to put the cheat in IE: contra asdgtrar then put in "infinite lives" next the game genie code?

basically you make say supermatriobros3.txt.then load a cheat option in the file menu on nesterj and run it when you load up the game.simple explanation.personally i dont use nesterj much.i was just stating this so someone else would pick up with an answer thank you jubba =P

Okay, Ive created the.pat file to my understanding. I put all the codes of contra but don't know if I did it right, or how to install it. IE: contra gxiicx keep weapns after death etc I saved the word pad calling it contra.nes.pat but am cluless what to do next. I have put them in the cheat folder and it shows up, but does not work. any help would be very very appreciated. -alterdimension

Navigate to Contra: GameGenie.com: Nintendo (Game Genie) Codes - Contra

Open up Notepad. Copy paste code to notepad

SLAIUZ Start with infinite lives
GXIIUX Keep weapons after losing a life
SLTIYG Become invincible-- enemies don't shoot at you
PEIIXZ Start new life with machine gun
ZEIIXZ Start new life with flame-thrower
LEIIXZ Start new life with spread gun
GEIIXZ Start new life with laser

Save as Contra.txt (.txt is default extension, name it w/e your roms name is)

Put cheat file in NesterJ's folder, Create a Cheat folder if you wish and put it in that.

Open NesterJ and select w/e the option is to load the cheat file, then navigate to to the cheat file.

Select cheat file and it will load all cheats you have in there.

Do this after starting the game*** What I did at least.

Don't think I can explain in any more detail. :x

If I had a working cheat code (game genie) I could learn from it. Also, how do you get the nesterj reverse mirror back to the regular screen.

well, the current nesterj with backwards mirror seemes to be very unstable. I am going to try 1.11 and see how that goes. I did everything you said, putting codes in but there is no effect. I guess trial and error are what need to be done. By the way, thank you for the contra cheat code. also, do you have to put a folder and put inside the text file ? and what about naming game like life force or could it be lifeforce to put on. I test the Metroid cheats out personally. The inf life cheat or w/e works perfectly fine for me so the method is correct. Like I said in a previous post, you can create a Cheat folder to put your cheat files in, but you don't have to.

You can name games whatever you want. You may be able to name the cheat files whatever you want, i'm not sure, I just named it the same as the rom (Which for me was Metroid).
