See the post at the bottom of the first page for this thread about this, and/or go to the guides. I had the same problem and it fixed it.

Thumbs up Easy 4.01 Custom Firmware Installer

Most excellent. I'm new at this and the instructions and the video made it almost a no brainer to do the update.

Thanks for all the work.

Firmware Installed: faulty 4.01 m33-2?

Default Easy 4.01 Custom Firmware Installer

I did all this on my phat psp (under system information it says 4.01 m33-2), but now i'm stuck... when i try to go to the memorystick under game, it reboots my psp? What could i be doing wrong? Allready tried to install the 1.50 addon for 4.01 but since i can't see what's in my memorystick folder i'm stuck there.

Hey guys, glad to be here. It seems my aggressive writing style got me banned from another site due to too many teenagers. However, you folks seem very bright and helpful. This is probably going to be so noob that I'll be laughed out of the ball park, but here goes.

The updating tutorial is as strait forward as any I have ever seen and a tribute to those that know their is always a better way. Before I continue to put this CFW onto my Slim, I was wondering, do I have to have a previous CFW installed in order to get these benefits? Say, 3.90 M33 prior to 4.01 M33 - 2? Otherwise I feel like I am getting mixed signals on my upgrading options. (i.e., the other tutorials seem very engaging and drawn out while this tutorial seems like a very palatable solution that anyone can do. Please set me strait. This old man has got way too much on his mind to be confused this much.
Thanks.
