[Guide] How To Downgrade From 5.50 GEN A & B (FULL)

For all you who want to downgrade from 5.50 GEN A or B (FULL) then just follow these steps. Downgrading from there should only be about 5-15 minutes. Firstly, if you haven’t figured it out yet. Hellcats Recovery Flasher does NOT work on 5.50 GEN B (FULL). The only way to downgrade from there is to use a Pandora Battery and a MMS or DC8. However, Hellcats Recovery Flasher will work on 5.50 GEN-A(FULL)

I found this to be quickest way to downgrade rather than having to go through all that bullshit having to make a MMS again and doing the whole process over again. Thanks to DarkFoxSniper helping too.

NOTE: Do Not Use This If You Have An PSP 3000 or A Unhackable PSP 2000. PSPMOD is NOT Responsible If You Brick You're PSP From This Guide.

Firstly, you will need these three files.

File Details- - (Despertar del Cementerio v8)

For Phat PSP’s Only! 1.50 Kernel Addon for 5.00 M33 Only!

PSP Firmware 1.50 Download (1.50 Update)

Now Then. Make sure you have over 80% Battery charge before you do this, because you can't do this without the battery being charged.

1. Now that you have all the files you need to get back to 5.00 M33-6 w/ 1.5 kernel then start by completely shutting off your PSP.
Then go into the recovery menu (Holding Right Trigger while turning on the PSP) then go into “Advanced” Then go and make your PSP into a Pandora Battery.

2. After you’ve done that, exit the recovery menu and go connect your PSP to your PC. Assuming you unrarred all the files. Stick Despertar del Cementerio v8 into your G:/PSP/GAME folder. Then Stick the 500.PBP in the root of the Memory Stick so it shows up as G:/500.PBP. And stick the ospbt_052 folder into your G:/PSP/GAME folder as well.

3. Disconnect from USB and go into your PSP's XMB and go down to the games and Run DC8. (I think you need at least 75% battery Life) Click okay (or whatever it is to downgrade) Wait a few minutes for it downgrade you back to 5.00 M33-6.

Assuming your psp has completely shut off, you'll need to hook your psp up to your psp charger to turn it on (without the battery inside the psp) or switch out batteries.

4. Go back to your PSP's XMB, Scroll down to your psp's game section and go down and run OS pandora Battery Tool 0.52. Once you've run it, go and select "Convert to normal mode". You now have a normal Battery.

You're done and back to 5.00 M33-6. If you'd like a lower firmware, use Hellcats Recovery Flasher to downgrade further. And now, you can delete all the files you just downloaded since they're not needed anymore.

1.50 Kernel for 5.00 M33 (Phats Only)

1. Connect your psp to USB and copy over the 1.5 kernel installed into your G:/PSP/GAME5XX folder. Then Copy the 150.PBP into the root of your Memory Stick G:/ so it shows up as G:/150.PBP.

2. Disconnect from USB and run it from your psp's game section off the Memory Stick. Just click and install the 1.5 Kernel which will remove Location Free Player and the Korean Font. (Not much of a loss)

3. You can now delete the files off your memory stick that you don't need anymore. It doesn't show up on the firmware and it is permanent.

Short Version of This Guide.

1. Download Files and copy

500.PBP to the root of the Memory Stick G:/
Ospbt 052 to G:/PSP/GAME
Despertar del Cementerio v8 to G:/PSP/GAME

2. Go into Recovery Menu > Advanced > and turn your battery into a Pandora Battery.

3. Run Despertar del Cementerio v8 from the PSP's XMB.

4. Downgrade to 5.00 M33-6. Wait a few minutes. You should now be on 5.00 M33-6.

5. Take Out Battery. Hook psp up to charger. Turn psp using charger and pop the battery back in. And then run Ospbt 052. "Convert to normal mode". Now you can Delete all useless files.

[5.00 M33-6] 1.5 Kernel Installation. PHAT PSP's Only!

1. Download files and copy
150.PBP to root of the Memory Stick. G:/
1.5K installer to G:/PSP/GAME5XX

2. Run the 1.5k Installer. It will remove the "Location Free Player" and "Korean Language". Install the 1.5 Kernel for 5.00 M33-6.

3. You should now have the 1.5 Kernel installed onto your psp. It doesn't show up on the firmware and it is permanent. You can now Delete All Uneeded Files.

I've ran into a problem...my psp does not shut down when I run DC8 and it's installed successfully. It takes me back to XMB and my fw is still at 5.50 GEN B FULL...If I manually shut down my psp and turn it back on, it seems to work so it also didn't seem as though my battery was converted into a pandora's battery from the recovery menu. Any ideas?

Then use the ospbt 052.rar to convert your battery into a pandora.

Im using a psp 1000 and when I downgraded from 5.50gen B2 using hellcats recovery flasher...it worked just fine. No problems, no brick, not sure why your saying you cant do it.

Did you just completely neglect to read the original post? It's a guaranteed brick if you're running a ta-088v3 or higher. Of course your Phat is fine!

You're a fucking idiot. I said 5.50 GEN-B(FULL) Not 5.50 GEN-B2. B2 was a homebrew compatibility update which allowed to let more homebrew run, including Hellcats.

No. I skimmed it though. I didn't care to read the whole thing because I downgraded back to M33 using Pandora. This GEN fw sucks.

Trying to get back to m33 because GEN B is clearly slower.

I tried to follow you guide on my phat psp but the DC8 does nothing after the installation. No shutdown.
Tried the ospbt but it won't start giving me an error (0x80020146).

Any idea ?

Then just update to B2 and use hellcats recovery flasher.
