Ultimate Downgrader Guide 2.00-3.50 *Updated 6/27/07*

Yeah I called around to all my area ebgames/gamestops with no luck. I even called a local import/used game store also with no luck. No body on here wants to be a pal and lend me their copy of GTA for a few days?? Also, any updates on that cleaner that will get rid of the remnants of the 3.03 FW after you do this downgrade?

if i format my memory stick{delete everything},can i then go back to to the version b4 i upgraded to 3.11,,,,, u guys may think that this is a stupid question but my geek level is low!

no you cannot. The firmware isn't saved to the memory stick. Until someone comes out with a 3.11 or higher downgrader, you're stuck. If you ever want to run homebrew, stop upgrading your firmware and just wait

it has a 2.0 upgrade on it, usually they're just white and red words on the UMD, in google images, type "unpatched GTA" there pics of the box it should come in, NO gratest hits as well

YES!! the ISO wont have the xploit on it... and theres no other game with this...

nope, the memory stick and flash are diiferent, if you thought this, id advise for you to read ALOT on this site before you do any "modding" on your psp...

hey guys brandnew to the psp mod scene just got my psp last night. I have non ta-82 with version 2.6 and was tryin to downgrade with gta but when the tutorial says it will the program will load when gta is loading saves nothing happens it just loads to the game. What am i doing wrong? or should i just upgrade to 2.71 and than back down and if so where do i go to upgrade to 2.71? sorry bout all the questions...

You should definitely do the 2.71 downgrade. Just google "download psp firmware 2.71" to get the official firmware, upgrade to that and then use the downgrader. I wish I was had a 2.60 psp.. stupid limited edition metal gear portable psp (3.01 out of the box :'() I can't wait for the next non-GTA downgrader......

awesome so i upgraded to 2.71 but than the noob kicked in. I'm tryin to do the generic downgrade but when it says "Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HENB" in the read me for installing hen-c where do i go. nothing shows up in the photo section of the psp if thats where im supposed to be? once again sorry for all the questions

Just carefully re-read the first page of this forum to get the answers to all your questions. No, no other games work, only the unpatched GTA:LCS. You can recognize the unpatched one because the top-right screenshot on the back of the box has a close-up of the main character and a YELLOW taxi. For the guy downgrading from 2.71, make sure you know what kind of motherboard you have before you actually try and downgrade (there are different methods for different motherboards) and if you don't follow the directions carefully, you'll end up with a bricked PSP on your hands. Just follow all directions on page one of this thread. If text directions aren't working for people, does anyone know of a video tutorial?

Things Needed:

2. UMD of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories w/ 2.00 Patch (2.60 patch doesnt work)
3. 3.03 Home Brew Enabler (download at bottom of tutorial)
4. NOOBZ Official 3.03-1.50 Downgrader

Notes Regarding GTA UMD's:

Unpatched versions of Liberty City Stories contain the 2.0 update, whereas patched versions contain higher updates. If your copy of LCS has an update higher than 2.0 on it, then you will have to find an unpatched UMD to proceed. There's no need to worry if you have a TA-082 PSP as the downgrader will check your motherboard and patch it if necessary. Note the downgrader will not let you proceed without patching if your motherboard requires it.

How To Use:

To use this simply download the 3.03 HEN files from the download links below and copy them to your PSP. Then run your unpatched version of GTA:LCS and the patch will apply itself. It will be stored in RAM and will stay there until you reset your PSP. Putting the PSP in sleep mode will not remove the patch.

One Disclaimer: Can you also note before use that it is possible to brick using this downgrader if you downgrade and then update to 3.03 and then downgrade again. The advice from Fanjita right now is to only use this once.

1. Update to firmware 3.03. If already have this firmware then proceed to step 2.

2. Open the 3.03 downgrade file and copy the contents of the folder MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.

3. Open the 1.5 update and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
Make sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP

4. Load Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (unpatched)

5. It should get to loading save game, clear the screen, the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP
