I'm just curious as to what the PSP UMD/iso format is in? If i was to rip/obtain an iso, which one should it be in and which format would i rip it into?

i don't think it matters, since you are on CFW. But I usually do NTCS.

UMD/ISO as in actual PSP games? Neither? But at a guess, closer to NTSC than PAL.

If you're referring to PSX ISOs, then NTSC is preferred.

yea UMD/ISO as in the actual psp games. i was thinking NTSC as well because ps2 is ntsc so i was thinking since psp is sony anyways, ntsc would make more sense. thanks folks.

First, NTSC is an analog system. Since the PSP's screen is digital and most likely progressive, I don't think the above distinctions apply.

as far as I know psp does not have region locking unlike the ps2. The distinction in psp games is weather or not the particular language translation that you are looking for is included in the game. US games usually come with engish, french, and spanish where as EU releases have also german and probably portuguese. Then you have region specific releases like russian chinese, etc. Anyway MULTI for PSP means multilingual so if you are looking for english both MULTI and US are ok.

edit: legally games are still divided into regions and US retailers only sell US release ( same goes for EU etc. )

The PSP is region-free for games. Meaning, it's possible to play the Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core JP UMD on a US PSP.

Movies and Music UMDs, however, are not. RightStuf has got a bunch anime UMDs selling for $5 or less. Bought a couple of them and they won't play on my Japanese PSP.

Yeah, but I was just clarifying the region-coding thing.

PSP firmware versions are in the sig. And no, I'm not really planning to watch UMD movies on my Japanese PSP. I was just curious because Advent Children worked on my Japanese PSP that's why I tested my other UMD movies. I already know that if I go to recovery, there's an option there to enable region-free, etc. No need to tell me.
