Default ::GUIDE::How To Put Games On Your Memory Stick

upon request i am making this tutorial to well....rip your games and put your game rips on your memory stick.

But here are a few warnings:
1)DON'T ASK ME WHERE TO GET GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but i will tell you what you need for them)
2)This tutorial is strictly for putting games on your memory stick, and questions. Nothing more so NO spam
3)This will work on all M33 and i assume HX firmware
4)You need a custom firmware!!!!

OK with that gone we will start my tutorial like all my others. With Q/A!

Q)Where do I get ripped games?
A)Fuck off! Read the rules

Q)How many types or rips are there and what is their difference?
A)There are 3 different types (ISO, CSO, and DAX) they differ from their compression stages and memory. DAX being the most memory conserving and ISO being the largest.

Now if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Same for complaints, and tutorial suggestions.)

Forward and onward on the tutorial:

How this tutorial is organized:
------------------------------
Part 1) Questions and answers
Part 2) Materials
Part 3) Process (Ripping your game)
Part 4) Process (Shrinking your game and mounting it to your memory stick)
part 5) Compressors
Part 6) For Thieves (Using this tutorial with Torrents)
Part 7)Downloads

Part 2) Materials:
-----------------
1)A HACKED PSP!!!
2)A legally owned UMD
3)A Computer
4)Data cable (USB)
5)A Lot of available memory (using 2gb and up is good)

Part 3)Ripping your UMD:
------------------------
1)Turn on the psp and enter the recovery mode by holding R during the boot up
2)On the recovery mode, go to "Configuration"
3)Then go down to "XMB USB Devices" and press X until it says "UMD Disk" (5 times)
4)Then go to "UMD Mode" and press X until it says "Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-" (2 times and in my opinion this is the best loader for ripped games.)
5)Then Exit the recovery mode
6)Insert your selected UMD and enter USB mode
7)Go to "My Computer" and look at your PSP drive. You will notice that it is just some letters and numbers. Well thats good because thats your UMD!
8)Open that drive and inside you will see your ISO (if you have winrar installed it will be a rar achieve. not sure about 7zip or winzip)
9)Take that ISO and move it to your desktop

congratulations you just extracted the UMD data in an ISO format!

10)Now turn off your PSP and take out your UMD
11)Load the recovery mode
12)Go To "Configuration"
13)then turn "XMB USB Devices" back to "Memory Stick"
14)Go back and exit the recovery mode
15)Now re-enter USB mode and your PSP is all ready for now!

Step 4)Shrinking your game and mounting it to your memory stick:
---------------------------------------------------------------
1)Download UMDGen and simply drag and drop your ISO to it.
2)The name of the game should appear in the upper Right
3)Then just select "File"
4)Then "Save As"
5)And select your format (be known ONLY the fat PSP can play DAX games)
6)After its done compressing, go to the saved location and drag it over to your X:/ISO folder on your PSP
7)Once done, you can exit out of USB mode

congratulations you have now shrunken and mounted your ISO/CSO/DAX rip to your PSP!!!
(also, you will need an application to play a DAX rip. See downloads)

Part 5)Compressors:
-------------------
All the compressors can be found in the download section. Also, for this tutorial i included UMDgen which is a pretty good one. You can also use others like YACC is desired.

Part 6)For Thieves:
-------------------
DOWNLOAD LINKS NOT INCLUDED
I DO NOT SUPPORT TORRENT PEOPLE NOR DO I CARE ABOUT THEM

This same tutorial applies to you when have downloaded your ILLEGAL torrent and extracted it to your desktop. Just follow the process when its done and you will be well on your way STEALING games.

Part 7)Downloads:
------------------
1)UMDGen (Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!)
2)WinRAR (WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files)

of course it will work wih official firmware because you can access the recovery mode to change the UMD drivers and also change the XMB USB activity lol
but really, nope your restricted to garbage when you use official firmware.

its all true. those who want illegal game rips better look it up themselves. i dont support it. the less software sales sony make, the harder it becomes on their software production.
no software=no firmware.
no firmware=no new features.
no new features=no cutom firmware.
no custom firmware=no fun

Post ::GUIDE::How To Put Games On Your Memory Stick

I found this both beneficial and entertaining, although the only real info that I didn't already know about was if the M33 custom firmware was any good for UMD emulation and if it could play DAX files.

A couple questions though:
What is the down side to having more compressed files (i.e. DAX or CSO) as opposed to ISO files? Is there a major quality decrease? Where, if at all, is the decrease take affect?

Thanks Midian! Great guide!

down sides=no videos and sometimes no audio so its pretty much just the game and thats it.

DAX has the most memory saving but it has the least amout of content. CSO is next and ISO is the largest but contains all the data.
those audio and video clips can take up a few hundred mb

I was rereading the guide and I noticed you didn't make mention of the app to play DAX rips in the download section. Is there one needed for M33? I know Dark_Alex has a program for OFW 1.5 that works with his UMD Emulator called "DAXZISO_06". I can't remember where I downloaded it but I could post it up if that's what's needed.

edit: I forgot to mention that I LOVE this guide cuz I was acting pretty noobish by putting Dark_Alex's UMD Emulator on there like I was on OFW 1.5 even though I'm on 3.71 M33-3! I now know that I don't even need the files for that and that I can put more *ahem* legally acquired games on my PSP. I do support Sony in buying some of their video games on occasion, but they can get so damn expensive! Okay, I'm done rambling now, lol.

Also, I just wanted to mention that whenever I use a CSO file rather than ISO I can't tell the difference in quality. I wonder if DAX won't really have a noticeable difference since CSO didn't (despite what midian said)...

@Midian: Are there any special settings I should put in recovery mode to play the ISO/CSO/DAX? I don't remember what was the default anyway so what should be the UMD mode? ("Normal -UMD Required-", "M33 Driver -NO UMD-", "Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-", "OE isofs legacy -NO UMD-") Once again, I have CFW 3.71 M33-3.
