Unhappy Problems with USB connection...

I bought a Sony 8GB card (pretty sure it's not fake:checked packaging, code, italicised "S", I didn't pay $20 for it) and I'm beginning to have problems with transferring files.
Midway, the PSP will go from saying "USB mode" to "Please Wait", upon which I receive the windows pop-up saying that it could not transfer file and to please specify correct path.
I reformatted the disk from the PSP then with mspformat and it worked fine.
24 hours later, no dice.

Even though the file failed to completely transfer, it still shows up as being on the stick and even in the PSP menu.

I'm wondering if it's my USB connector (doubt it) or something funky with the FW that makes it lose the USB connection after a minute or two.
I'm running 3.80-5 if that's ever been an issue..
I hope my rambing isn't too confusing.

Default Problems with USB connection...

try formatting it using the psp system settings, not the PC utility mspformat.

Default Problems with USB connection...

When I DO reformat the stick, since I'm running CFW, does it remake all the necessary directories?

The first time I did it, I made a copy of the entire stick onto my harddrive, formatted and then copied everything back onto the stick.

Also, there are two .IND files (MEMSTICK.IND,MSTK_PRO.IND) that I don't remember being there before in the root. They are both 0bytes...... strange things are happening on this stick of mine.

I'll try PSP formatting now.
Thanks for the suggestion.

EDIT:
Okay, so it's reformatted all the same folders intact, just empty--so that answered one of my questions.
I tried putting back music and emulators, etc. I moved them one at a time. roms were about 30megs-no problem; music was 206Megs and that's when it failed to transfer all of the files.

But the error doesn't occur consistently with larger file transfers as I moved a 1.8Gig iso successfully (after 2 tries however) then I moved a 1.2Gig iso and it failed.

I'm seeing an error bubble in the system tray saying Windows - Delayed Write Failed.
I googled and found that possible causes relating to me (since these articles applied to harddrives for the most part) were either faulty cabling or having too much RAM....
Error message that you may receive when you save or move documents in Windows XP: "Delayed Write Failed"

Not sure if adjusting the cache settings (as suggested by the site) is a good idea/necessary to solve the problem.

For your ms stick (any flash drive connected temporarily) you should disable write back cache if you can. It may also be casuses by a faulty card and/or cabling and yes Midori is correct - those IND files are normal.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the PSP or another one? Try replacing the cable first and foremost.

Default Problems with USB connection...

I´ve been having the same problem with my slim. Funny thing is that I did not have any problems with my friend´s computer (using the same cable as I'm using now).

Can't transfer over 600MB. Already tried the "Delayed Write Failed" resolution, and still no results. Formmated my Memory Stick (Sony 4GB - original) twice.

Any new ideas???

I'm not sure what u mean, but it wasn't free. Paid $80 bucks for it at Canada Computers (I think they're a respectable company--never had any problems with their products)

It's a Sony 8gb with MagicGate support and the hologram sticker is real.

Write caching is disabled under the stick's Policies "Optimize for quick removal."
My PSP didn't come with a USB cable (daxter bundle), so I bought one from Amazon. It has USB and AC power plug connectors. I'll try and find another mini-USB cable from somewhere.

Thumbs up Problems with USB connection...

I tried using my gf's camera USB cable and I've had no trouble with files so far.
Thank goodness it wasn't my stick.

Thanks for the help everyone.
