Exclamation Please help - UMD error

I've seen this posted all over messages boards and Q&A sites everywhere, yet no one has posted any good response.

I'm currently running a PSP Slim with CFW 3.90m33-3. One day my PSP randomly decided to not load UMDs. Anytime there is a UMD in the drive I get the "The disc could not be read." error when I power on. I also get this error the exact instant I close the UMD drive with a UMD in it if the PSP is on.

I've replaced my UMD drive, I've downgraded my firmware several times over, I've cleaned the hell out of everything, I've changed every imaginable setting, I've pushed on certain parts of the PSP, tried timing my closing of the door, and all of this has not helped yet. The only thing I haven't tried is hitting the PSP itself or smashing it against something (not really willing to either).

Does anyone have any clues as to how to fix this or what may be causing it? When I had my PSP open, everything else looked to be in fine shape. Also, the drive only spins when the PSP is first turned on. When the PSP is on and I press the lever, there is only a very quick spin and laser activity, and the error pops up. Thank you in advance.

Default Please help - UMD error

One more thing: It's not the UMD itself as I have tried several brand new UMDs to no avail.

ID keys are all fine. I initially thought it was my UMD drive too, until I replaced it. Even with a brand new drive, I still get the same error.
