i don't think they are writable, because you would need a UMD burner and blank discs....

like if you put a umd game into your psp and hit select with CFW u can make it open the UMD when you connect thru usb and when u try to delete the game on the UMD it says its write protected, remove write protection in order to delete it
but how do you remove write protection? it must be possible if the computer says it

Unless UMD's are rewritable then I doubt it's possible...

Not necessarily..think of it as going to blockbuster and renting a DVD...you cant witr files to that DVD and most likely you can remove the write protection on the disc but you can on the ISO of it...

and is that XMB recovery thing in your sig the file needed when u go into recovery mode and and run program.... RECOVERY ect

No..that is exactly what it says XMB Recovery..it is ran from the XMB and not from recovery mode.
