Default Tips On Buying A New Psp

first post here... new member... never owned a psp before.

i just bought a psp 3000 (ratchet and clank bundle). i ordered it so i havent received it yet. i was going to order a psp 2000 piano black but after reading this and other threads, i found out that the newer ones cant be hacked yet so i just went with the 3000. now, since i bought the 3000, im hoping something will materialize with this new gripshift exploit which will allow CFW to be run on the 3000 model. furthermore, i would expect sony to fix this exploit in later official firmware updates (which is why i bought my 3000 NOW). now my questions: what should i NOT do once i receive my psp 3000 so i will be able to mod it with CFW later when that time comes? how is firmware updated on the psp? is it force updated whenever the psp goes online (like the ps3)? i just really want to know how to avoid upgrading the firmware on the unit so im not screwed later on... or if it is even necessary to avoid updating it. i know downgrading official firmwares were possible on the 2000 model, but the new motherboard is a whole new beast, isnt it? so downgrading might not be possible with the new motherboard, correct? ANY SUGGESTIONS on what to do, not to do, be aware of, etc. when i receive my psp 3000 are GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks!

Default Tips On Buying A New Psp

a couple questions before a buy a psp

1. Is it still possible to find a piano black psp 2000 which still can be moded, even though it still has the new box style?

2. If i buy a psp 3000 do i update to the latest version or do i stick with the firmware it comes with? Lets just say the psp 3000 gets hacked in two or three months will it matter if i update my psp 3000 to the latest firmware sony offers. Or will it be better for me not to update the psp.

3.Do you think PSp 3000 will get hacked?

1. read this thread

2. i have the same question... someone please answer this

3. it will, it is already possible to run a HEN on the 3000 via the discovery of a recent exploit in the game gripshift. i'd say we're looking at a couple of months at the most. of course, this likely means that we will need to obtain a copy of gripshift too, which is ending in the $60-70 range on ebay right now.

Well im probably ganna buy the psp 3000 and wait for someone to hack it. I wont update it though, im getting the sliver psp what about you?

Last question if the psp 3000 is hacked do you think you still can use a psp 2000 Pandora battery and magic memory stick? Or do you think a Pandora battery and magic memory stick will be released just for psp 3000?

Yeah i'm getting the silver psp 3000 in the ratchet bundle. im in the same boat as you... just gonna wait it out. i wouldnt update the firmware on it but i wish someone more knowledgeable than myself would chime in on this. i dont know about the pandora battery... it might not use one at all considering the motherboard is different and the new gripshift exploit can load a HEN without using a pandora battery or magic mem. hell, as long as i can load ISOs and use remote play, ill be happy

i think we can update to the latest firmware version doesn't the psp have a setting where you can restore the psp to factory settings. Wouldn't that restore the original firmware that psp had when bought.

there is a way to reset the default settings; however, i am pretty sure this does NOT affect your firmware version and your firmware does NOT reset to what it was out of the box. again, im not positive but thats my understanding... so if someone could confirm this....
