psp making funny shorting noise helpp
Hey im new to the psp modding stuff but i took my psp apart to get a look around things so i can get use to modding it. after doing this a few times it started making a shorting noise from the motherboard which is worreing. is it serious and is there anyways to fix it? i took out the umd drive and wireless thingy too see if they were causeing it but the sound came from the motherboard and it also comes when the psp is charging |

Sounds like the battery is frying, but I might be wrong. Try a different battery.

is it a cracking or a buzzing noize. if it's a buzz your power supply is going to kill it.

Sounds like the power unit, forgive me for my lack of hardware terminology. Might be the AC/DC converter, but since it makes the noise without the charger in as well, it's probably an internal power unit.

That is right!
The on board rectifier is dying. this comes from using bad AC adaptors "power supply" This is not something easy to be fixed by hand.
What mods did you preform?

You might have shorted something unintentionally by bridging contacts.

you need to look over the whole assembly and make sure nothing is shorting anything.. if that does not work then you have already damaged it. if you where in south africa i could have helped you. sorry

If it does die.. just buy a new mother board making sure that it's hackable.

If it's funny, why not keep it? |
