NICE!! the other 1 was getting way outdated, good cleaned up, updated guide...looks good!

To install ChickHen R2 or MHUSpeed V3 (ChickHen Alternative), your unhackable 2k / 3k Must be on ofw no higher than 5.03. If you're beyond this Ofw, you're SoL.
**When installing ChickHen or MHUSpeed V3, be sure to empty the Picture folder first.
Unsure if you have a hackable 2k? Follow the guide up until Pspident. If Pspident shows Motherboard: TA-088V3, then continue to this guide. If it shows any motherboard other than TA-088V3 then move onto this guide: Guide: ChickHen + Cfw for 1ks and Hackable 2ks skipping down to Installing CFW.
KEY:
→ X: Your drive letter for this guide, when you connect the psp to pc via Usb cord, or through MS pro duo adapter.
→ Root: The base of your MS; what you see when you first double click your drive letter (Where the Psp folder is located).
→ MS: Memory Stick
→ XMB: Psps home menu
→ OFW: Official Firmware
→ CFW: Custom Firmware
Updating to 5.03:
1. Download: PSP Downloads | 5.03 Firmware Update
2. Create a folder named "UPDATE" in your game folder: X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\
3. Extract the Eboot.PBP to the Update folder.
4. Run the 5.03 Updater from your MS. *It is recommended that you have your AC adapter plugged in as well while Updating fw. If the psp were to turn off mid Update, it would result in a bricked psp.
Installing ChickHen *Recommended for smaller MS's*:
1: Download: PSP Downloads | ChickHEN Homebrew Enabler R2
2: Extract h.bin to the root of your MS & the contents of "SLIM"/"ChickHEN" to X:\PICTURE\
3: In the XMB go to System Config→Restore Default Settings. Run, leaving the Psps nickname as its default.
4: Go to System Config→UMD Autostart & UMD Cache, switch both to [off]
5: Go to Pictures and scroll down to the bottom image. *If the psps screen glitches and the wifi light starts blinking then it's a success. If the psp freezes, either give it 10 seconds to turn off on its own, or take the battery out and try again.* **ChickHen is not a 100%, may need to try a few times**
Installing MHUSpeed V3 (ChickHen Alternative)*Recommended for larger MS's*:
1: Download: PSP Downloads | MHUSPEED v3: PSP Homebrew Enabler
2: Extract speed.bin to the root of your MS, and the contents of "PICTURE" to X:\PICTURE\
3: In the XMB go to System Config→Restore Default Settings. Run, leaving the Psps nickname as its default.
4: Go to System Config→UMD Autostart & UMD Cache, switch both to [off]
5: Enter Pictures and allow the images to load, then click on the folder and scroll to the bottom. *If the psps screen glitches and the wifi light starts blinking then it's a success. If the psp freezes, either give it 10 seconds to turn off on its own, or take the battery out and try again.* **MHUSpeedV3 is not a 100%, may need to try a few times**
Pspident: For those unsure if their 2k is hackable:
1: Download: PSP Downloads | PSPident 0.4
2: Extract "PSPident" to X:\PSP\GAME\
3: Run.
4: If your motherboard is not TA-088V3 move to this guide: Guide: ChickHen + Cfw for 1ks and Hackable 2ks
CFW: For Cfw you have 2 choices, Cfw Enabler V3.60 (5.03 MHU) or 5.03 Gen-C(Full). *Gen-C is the latest of the Gen cfw released 12/15/09* **Gen-C will also play the newer psp games without the need to decrypt.**
Installing 5.03 MHU:
1: Download: PSP Downloads | Custom Firmware Enabler v3.60
2: Extract the PSP folder to the root of your MS
3: Run the installer from the game section of your MS.
Installing 5.03 Gen-C:
1: Download: PSP Downloads | Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-C (for HEN)
2: Extract the PSP folder to the root of your MS
3: Run the installer from the game section of your MS.
Installing Prometheus for 5.03 Gen-C:
1: Download PSP Downloads | Prometheus 5.03 GEN-C Addon
2: Extract contents to X:\Psp\Game\
3: Run the installer.
Maintaining CFW: Cfw for 3ks and unhackable 2k's is not a permanent thing. If you turn the psp off, then you lose the cfw and have to start all over again (To avoid this the psp is put in standby mode by simply flicking the power switch rather than holding it down). But, you can somewhat avoid this with a plugin. *Sedna for 5.03 Gen A/B works with 5.03 Gen-C as well
1: Download: Sedna for 5.03 GEN-A/B. Keep 5.03 GEN-B active even after rebooting!, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks
2: Extract the seplugins folder to the root of your MS
3: Create a .txt files inside the seplugins folder named "vsh"
4: Copy this into the vsh.txt "ms0:/seplugins/Sedna.prx 1" *Without the quotes*

NICE!! the other 1 was getting way outdated, good cleaned up, updated guide...looks good!

Turning off the UMD cache and auto-load is correct but I have noticed that just having a UMD in the drive will inhibit the Chickhen from loading. Try it out to see what I'm talking about.
Thx Goku
If 5.03 Gen-C actually comes out on the 15th i'll be sure to update it.![]()
hey man, no problem...yeah, you definitely need to keep it up to date, as the older 1 only gets you to the original chickhen exploit and there's been new updates, new 1's still coming out.
i've already thought of this too for D3 for my fixer guide and the ancient fw update guide i made. but not till i try it out myself, sort out the whole process of it too (curious if it'll be another installer or just a quick patch updater). i never post up step by step things unless i'm 110% sure and confident they work...but any time i see things for chickhen, i'll send them to this thread since it's got it all the up to date info.

Yeah, you're right. I'll be sure to give it a whirl on one of my stand by psp's :P
Nice guide, As goku said, it needed to be updated.
Have you tried DaRKcLoUD-X v2...??, it loads chickhen 100% of the time for me, as long as you dont have any other pics in the PHOTO folder.
:x I have not. I'll be sure to check it out along with Mhuspeed3. I'll probably toss up whichever works better.
Edit:
DaRKcLoUD-X v2: Test 2
1gb Sandisk: 8/10
2gb Sony: 8/10
8gb Sandisk: 2/10
32gb Photofast Cr-5400 (Class 6): Didn't bother.
MHUSpeed V3:
1gb Sandisk: 7/10
2gb Sony: 2/10
8gb Sandisk: 8/10
32gb Photofast Cr-5400 (Class 6): Will bother on request. :P
ChickHen R2:
1gb Sandisk: 6/10
2gb Sony: 8/10
8gb Sandisk: 0/10
32gb Photofast Cr-5400 (Class 6): On Request.
Rainbow ChickHen:
1gb Sandisk: 6/10
2gb Sony: 7/10
8gb Sandisk: 0/10
32gb Photofast Cr-5400 (Class 6): On Request.
All tested with Default settings, Umd autoload [off],Umd Cache [off],Wlan switched to off.
For each attempt I scrolled down to the bottom of the picture folder. 0 other pictures in either picture folder.
Wondering if you did something else, other than copy/merging all files provided El Guapo.
Edit2: Tested to be sure. MHUSpeed V3 loads both Cfw Enabler V3.60 & 5.03 Gen-B(Full)
Edit3: Added ChickHen to tested list.
Edit4: Added MHUSpeed V3 to guide :P
Edit5: Added Rainbow ChickHen test results![]()

PSX:
One game tested for the sake of making sure Popsloader still works
Tested, Not Working:
IR Shell (Unsupported FW)
For now this meets my standards. I'll be updating the guide.![]()
Jubba if you want try rainbow chickHEN works bether tham MHUSPEED3 if you want i can give you a link
xD joy, more shit to test. :P
M'kay i'll put it through the 10x test of the MS's listed above, if it shows better result than MHUSpeed V3 did i'll replace MHU with it in the guide.![]()
DOX.bg
Ok so you put it in ms0:/PSP/PHOTO put the h.bin in the root (as you know)
when you go to the photos on the psp dont scrol down just open the folder
ot will take some time to work the first time but after that iy will work in an instant.knok yourself out
Yeah, every ChickHen program i've tried loads its own type of egghunt.bin after it's first boot, which increases the chances of it taking the next time. This is mainly a guide for newbies that are running it for the first time though, so I like to list what has the highest chances of success overall.
Here's my testing results for
Rainbow ChickHen:
1gb Sandisk: 6/10
2gb Sony: 7/10
8gb Sandisk: 0/10
32gb Photofast Cr-5400 (Class 6): Only because I listed it with the others :P
MHUSpeed V3 has had a higher success rate, so it'll stay in the guide. Thank you for the suggestion though delon4o.![]()
