Hi. Would it be possible for someone to answer a few questions I have on a new PSP I recently bought from ebay? The PSP is a version 2003 (Slim and Lite), with custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3.

I've done a lot of searching through threads and forums online as I do not know too much about custom firmware, and have receieved conflicting responses. Would someone clear up the following for me please?

    1. Will custom firmware allow me to download + play (UK) PSN games, and UMD's? I have read differing views on this, as some say it is possible, whereas some others say custom firmware will not have any effect on playing/downloading PSN games and UMD's. The seller of the PSP himself has advised me that I need to switch back to official firmware to download and play games from the PSN.The main reason I bought the PSP was to be able to replay Final Fantasy 7 and Street Fighter Alpha 2 from PSN, so I hope I still can!

    2. I have read a thread where someone is having issues with FF7 - his game crashes and the graphics appear fuzzy when playing FF7 on custom firmware - many people replied to him blaming the firmware. However I have read elsewhere this would not have an effect.

    3. Is it easy to change back to the official Sony firmware, and is there any point in doing so?

    4. If sticking with firmware one game I am desperate to play is Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. Seeing as the only way to be able to get this game with all of it's features is by downloading the game and playing it on the CPS2 Emulator I am considering doing so - but is there a question of legality? I have read in places that the only way this is legal is to actually own a hard copy of the game itself, if anyone knows th definite answer to this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reading this, and thanks in advance to anyone who responds! (Apologies if I have posted in the wrong section, if I have would someone kindly move it please?)

First off, update your PSP to 6.60. Your going to have to bypass your GEN firmware so I am linking you to a guide:http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-fir...made-easy.html, scroll down to section 6 and find the "GEN BYPASS". After your on 6.60, use this:6.60ME-1.8 (OFW Version) - Downloads - PSPMOD.com - PSP Forum, Hack PSP, PSV Hacks, PS Vita Hack, PSVita, this will update you to the latest CFW and you shouldnt have any problems what so ever. If there are any issues, just post back.

The only legal way to own a backup/.iso is to dump it from your actual copy. It is illegal to download a dump of someone else's copy.

I'd encourage you to read the rules for the forum. They're pretty straightforward and there aren't many of them. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/introdu...uncements.html
