    So..

I got a PSP-1004. Got it from a friend for free. It had 3.71m33-4 on it I believe. But after downloading some games, I came to the conclusion it was too old to play those titles.

So I decided to update it, and ended up on 6.20 OFW (?) that I then couldn't seem to further update to 6.60.

That pissed me off. So I used HELLCAT in a feeble attempt to just slam that shit back to 1.50 (yeah I know.. That probably wasn't too clever). Black screen. Bricked. Do'h.

Found a guide to how to turn my battery into a Pandora, did that, made a MMS, blablalba, it's now OFW 1.50. (Burned my finger on a sodlering iron while doing so. ouch ouch)

Where do I go from here? If I want to play ISO rips of newer games?

Please help, as I woud hate bricking it once again (Since i just sodlered the battery back to a normal one).

    Thx!

EDIT: Read thru the ultimate guide (again) and scrolled far far down. Found a way to install 5.00 M33-6 using Hellcat, so taht's what's on it now. Is this fine? Should I update no further? I think I gotta get 6.60 cfw if I'm not mistaken.. ?

EDIT 2: K so I decide to try update to OFW 6.60, but i get an error DRNFFFFFFCD.. Read my way to using KeyCleaner, so I did that. It was succesful in patching key 5 etc, and all seems well. But I still get that erro (DRNFFFFFFCD) when trying to install OFW 6.60 via GAME/UPDATE/ . Any help would be much appreciated, if possible how to just use a Pandora battery and MMS to get it to 6.60. or 6.35 CFW. That'd work as well.

EDIT 3: (Yes, i'm a very impatient person).. Managed to install cfw 5.50 GEN-D3, and Prometheus-4 afterwards. So far so good. More games are working now. Not sure if I need to update further yet. But please tell me HOW to, should it be necesary.

    (Current Firmware: 5.50 Prometheus-4)

EDIT 4: Check last post for solution.

i didn't say 'illegal'... you can always play the umd!

you went all over the place.

i have only ever used the PB + MMS method to recover from a semi-brick. Typically, you don't use PB + MMS to update the CFW.
and there were a number of different CFW from which you could have easily updated to 6.60me v1.8

    ultimate guide is very comprehensive.

now, d/l neur0n's 6.60ME v1.8 - follow the readme file contained therein. assume you already have OFW6.60.

    Nope, not on 6.60 OFW.

As i said in "EDIT 2", I kept getting this error: DRNFFFFFFCD when trying to update, claiming my "system configuration is FUBAR" (or something like that), from 5.00 m33-6 to 6.60 OFW.

I read thru 'the ultimate guide' and it told me to use "KeyCleaner" which I did, alas, to no avail.

However.. Updating to 5.50 GEN-D3 was possible, and so was updating that to 5.50 Prome-4. Which is what I am on now.

So what's my best option of getting 6.60 OFW on here.. Network update? Will it install even though I have CFW now, or do I have to do 'something' first.

yup, that would be my suspect - sounds like you need to repair IDstorage, but as i never had to do it - not familiar myself. and you have already tried it, anyway.

so, maybe - just a thought - another option is to see if you can update to a lower OFW version, then update to OFW6.60.

otherwise, see if you can do a network update OFW...

another thought is that hellcat would come in handy here, to update OFW version and to update maybe to say something like CFW6.39

At the moment, all the games I own play fine on this 5.50 Prome-4, including Dissidia, Persona and other games that I thought needed newer fw..

So until I buy/borrow a game that just won't play, I think I'll just stay on this CFW. Emulators seem to work fine as well, so that's sweet.

Unless you (or anyone else) have a specific reason as to why I should update? Still a bit confused about all this.

yeah, you'll still have fun on that lower cfw version.

considering the latest cfw is based on the latest ofw version, then there are features available on the latest ofw that the previous versions didn't have. but if you don't use it, then you're not missing it, are ya?

can you update to ofw6.20 or ofw6.30. then go from there to either higher cfw version or straight to ofw6.60

don't know what's happened to your idstorage, but careful when mucking around in those areas. that keycleaner obviously didn't help much.

Yes I am now on CFW 6.60ME 1.8.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think the version.txt had anything to do with my issue, I just so happened to change that while I was trying OTHER things as well..

So I was stuck on 5.50-Prome4, and kept getting DRNFFFFFFCD errors, everytime I tried to update it. Frustrating.

    Here's what I did:

1: Looked through the ultimate guide for my problem. Found a section that told me to run KeyCleaner, to fix my broken ID Storage.
2: Ran KeyCleaner. It patched ID/Key 5, and told me all was well.
    3: STILL got the error.
4: Ran KeyCleaner AGAIN, this time UNpatching the ID/Key that it had patched earlier.
5: Ran 6.60ME-1.8 installer (not OFW version), with 660.pbp in the same UPDATE folder ( contents of UPDATE folder were: EBOOT.PBP + 660.PBP )
    6: DONE! Success!!

So it seems patching the key with KeyCleaner did fix the issues I had regarding some games or homebrew that wouldnt launch. But I had to UNpatch that key again, to succesfully update my PSP.

I hope that helps, and is thorough enough! ^__^
