The battery boots the memory card up accessing the IPL via the memory stick instead of the motherboards IPL which then can run the downgrader..

Yes what Bacon said is true. The psp boot from flash0 by default so what the battery does is redirect it to boot from memstick instead. So with out the battery the psp will ,by default, boot to flash0. Without the battery the memcard is useless.

Try just using the memory stick without the pandora battery
