GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
nvrmnd. I got it open. I even broke the connection between the fifth pin and the circuit board, but when I put it in it turns on the power light and there's no screen display... SHIT!!! I quintuple checked everything too! I'm posting the best picture (closest in-focus) here for people to look at.
This is a Sony 3.6v 1800mAh battery and this is what it should look like according to a few different forums' moderators. People had blinding success with this method too! Help pls!

GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
Below is what I thought as of 6:23 PM on November 25, 2007. It has since been disproved and I now have a working Pandora's battery. I don't know how it works but it does...
This is for recording purposes only and it serves as an example of what happens when one does research and flames another without hearing the whole story. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FOLLOWING!
Hey, I talked with someone who is an electrical engineer and works with hardware a lot and he did some researching. Apparently what I cut was the ground wire and I should've cut pin 3. If you cut pin 5 you cut the ground wire and effectively RUIN YOUR BATTERY!!! Do not cut pin 5! I have the resources to back up this claim.
see the screenshot HERE for more info on the different types of packages for the chip S93C56.
I've got the site it came from HERE. On page 2 in the embedded PDF you'll find the same thing as the screenshot HERE (same as above).
The chip in my battery as well as others is the "GR" package and the guide for making this is for the "G" package.
BEWARE!

@Chriscyco30: what are you talking about? My battery drains itself in about five minutes and I have no display. The power LED comes on and I cant turn the thing off if I want to (unresponsive powerswitch). what am I supposed to do? |

Is this what everyone means by doing a "blind installation"?

GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
@Chriscyco30: but when I try to charge it later, it says that the battery charge is at 0%. I charge it by turning on my PSP w/o the battery in it, waiting till it finishes starting up, and finally inserting the battery. All of this is of course by plugging in the charger to the PSP.
BTW, I've already made the magic memory stick.

On second thought, I think I'm having troubles with the partitions of the memory stick. When enter the command line and try to do the partitions according to the guide, it says that the signature on the msipl.bin is bad. what am I doing wrong? BTW, my PSP drive is K:\
Here's what is displayed:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Dave>cd C:\msinst
C:\MSinst>msinst k msipl.bin

GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
I realize what I must've done wrong. I think I took the msipl.bin from the Universal Unbricker and put it in with the partition files rather than the one that came with the Partition Mover. It's all good now, on the Memory stick side.
I WAS WRONG! Cutting the 5th pin did work and the electrical engineer contact of mine is still scratching his head. I don't know how Pandora's battery works but it does. I will delete or retract the comment made about this FAQ/guide now in an effort to save some face (hopefully).
(oh wait, I wasn't supposed to say that last part out loud...)

When I go to make the PSP reload OFW 3.71 it bricks the system. The first time I tried it it did everything correctly. When I try installing FW 3.71 M33 using Pandora it bricks. When I try using the NAND restore, it bricks. HELP!
Also, if anyone knows where the thread is for how to just revert it back to OFW 1.5, it would greatly be appreciated if you could post it. (if you're under 15 posts, just put it in quotes and it won't throw up an error)

Alright first of all, do not double post! All you have to do is press the edit button. Alright first, you have the batt., and magic memstick. stick them in, go to cfw, then now, take out the battery and the memstick and have the AC adapter plugged in, now try turning it on.
