GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
OK everyone, I'm officially back.
I will be updating my guide shortly. I've missed alot.
Turns out there are a few things sony has done to block my tutorial from working. Here are examples:
1)Japanese batteries (the newer batteries) will NOT work
2)The new psp 1001 batteries have new chips with no ICO4 pins, so they also will NOT work
and so on. I currently got an older psp (classic one) from a friend. I broke my slim and he gave me his old since he got a slim. Anyway, i took the battery apart and BOOM, my tutorial failed on the battery.
Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do at this time. The battery is not hard-moddable and it will never be. You best bet is to get an old/used battery or a higher class battery. Just be sure the battery isnt japanese. If it is, it wont work. |

@inkee: I think you may have had a faulty USB cord if that was all it took to fix the problem. Either way, a memory card reader is a better idea than running the PSP since the game system sucks power like nothing else. @The_Dope_Show: If you followed step 2 on the list of directions you gave, you should have an extracted folder on the root of the C drive. open My Computer and go to the C drive. if there is a folder named "msinst" then you are in business. On step 7, type "cd" then press the spacebar and type "C:\msinst" and finally press enter. you should see "C:\msinst>" to the left of the blinking cursor. if so, you should type "msinst", space, your drive letter for the PSP or memory card, space, "msipl.bin". if you don't get a yes/no prompt, report what the last two lines say on the long list (assuming there is a long list). @Midian: You could just suggest getting a Datel Service Tool and you can use it on any (and I do mean any) official Sony PSP battery to put it in service mode. they don't even cost as much as a battery does (about $20 when I last checked) and they don't ruin your battery either. I ordered one and had a bad experience with it but I've heard from countless others that theirs worked, leading me to think that my case was just a fluke. |

GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*)
I made the pandora battery correctly, I put it in and the green light turned on, but I messed up on the magic memory stick. I took out the pandora battery and plugged the charger and usb into my psp, then redid the magic memory stick. After I made it, I took out the charger and usb connector and put the battery back in. The green light didn't come on this time and I've tried everything, it still wont come on. Please help me, how do I make the green light go on again? |

I know the entire point of this tutorial is so you don't have to do that but in an debate you usually state or at least consider all possibilities and why your's is the best one. All I really hoped for was a footnote or something in the guide that "alternate ways of doing this are summarized as follows:" or something along those lines. Don't shoot me for my suggestion, I was just trying to aid in the growth of this guide. @cheezus19946: C'mon man, give midian some slack! There are umpteen billion guides on youtube and there's even a thread that is specifically designated for people like you who want pictures. Go search the forums for Pandora High res pictures. It should bring up the one I'm talking about. @angelrm: alright now, it has nothing to do with the current firmware you have since that is completely immaterial to pandora's battery. The point of pandora is to be a PSP cure-all. Tell us what the last line says above "C:\msinst>" after process has finished--assuming you get a long list. If there is no long list, tell us exactly what you did in the most excruciating detail possible. @ChaosMarine03: Did you make sure you typed everything right? check my previous post to The_Dope_Show on this page and use that to check your input against.
