3.73 should not matter since this is being done on a non CFW psp.. everything is done in the pc and hardmodd. so No, 3.73 has nothing to do with it.. you must be doing something wrong or missing a very small step..

good luck.

Thank you! At least now I know its not my firmware - I'll keep trying and going over it again very carefully. I used the PSP as my MS reader since the only card reader I have is inside of a VistaPC and I don't feel like opening it. I'll pick up a external MS reader I can connect to my WinXP box on my way home today.

Just thinking outloud - could Sony have done something to the 3.73 firmware that prevents you from using the PSP to create the MS for this?

No, you just need a modded PSP to softmod a memstick. the firmware has nothing to do with it. So right now, Pandora is UNSTOPPABLE.

So you have to have a psp that already has a cfw to make the memstick? I'm the only person I know who even has a psp, let alone one with a cfw.

I can not figure out what i'm doing wrong. Should I not use my psp to read the memstick?

actually yes and no..

if you have access to a CFW psp then great you can make it a lot easier..

another method is use if you dont have a CFW psp . which is a WINDOWS XP PC.. which is this guide is trying to guide you..

I wanted to make it CLEAR to anybody who reads this thread -

I just loaded 3.71M33 on my Slim that was running 3.73(OFW)! I did not need an already modded PSP - by using the directions here and taking my time I was able to create the MS I needed and it worked like a champ. I did take the easy way out and purchased a Datel Battery - I didn't know about the little disagreement over these batteries when I bought mine.

Everything I'd read until I found this thread made me think I had to have access to a PSP already running CFW - YOU DON'T! Just follow the directions at the top of this thread and welcome to the wonderful world of homebrew.

Thank you for creating the post and the encouragement on sticking with it.

May I ask where you bought your Datel battery and how long it took to ship (to the US I'm assuming).

Will be getting a PSP from the woman for X-mas, not sure if I want to futz with a battery, although it looks rather simple. Also, unsure of whether I should buy a used fattie from gamestop... or a new slim.

I just used the TotalNewbi Easy Installer... It was so much more simple. The one I found had ALL the needed files, so I assume it is illegal to distribute. It will only work on Windows XP, I guess.

Also, I bought a datel battery online... I SUCK at the actual physical part so why waste money on an extra battery I would probably EFF up anyway. Thank you guys though, for all your help

Default How to create a Pandora's Battery and Slim MS without a Fat PSP

I bought a Japanese Slim that came with 3.71 firmware and now i got 3.71 M33-2 CFW all thanks to Pirate-M.Lifnen ... yeah this is my first time owning and modding psp lol *pats on shoulder*... so how do I check if this CFW is working properly? o.o... I know one obvious way to check it is system setting>system information and it shows systemsoft: 3.71 M33-2, but is there another alternative way to check it? or am I just worrying to much?
sorry for the noobish questions ^.^#

you can remove the files on the memory stick if you want but know that if you messed up the psp again.. that you gonna need to make the Magic memory stick again. assuming that you can access the psp again via recovery mode. if not then tuff luck.

just remember that Magic memory is a TOOL. it is a tool to unbrick the PSP or downgrade or upgrade any PSP.

me personally i would not touch the magic memory and would rather buy another memory stick to put my stuff on. why would i want to compromise the only tool that will let me UPGRADE < Downgrade > Unbrick any PSP.

Firmware Installed: 3.60

Default How to create a Pandora's Battery and Slim MS without a Fat PSP

I'm in the process of making the Pandora battery. I have all the same hardware as Pirate-M.Lifnen posted in this thread. The silver daxter psp with 3.60 firmware. I have now bought two official Sony 2200mah batteries from Best Buy just like Pirate-M.Lifnen's and performed the procedure on both. Neither are working. I thought somehow I messed up the first one but now that I have done the second one I am convinced I did it perfectly but the power light does not light up green when I insert it in my psp. Nothing happens at all.

Both batteries were charged to 100% before I removed pin 5 on each of them. I have done a lot of research and there are reported issues with Pandora compatibility with Sony 2200mah batteries that are made in Japan. Mine is made in China however and looks exactly like Pirate-M.Lifnen's which is supposed to be Pandora compatible.

I used a soldering iron to heat up pin 5 on my first battery and then removed it with a sewing needle. For my second battery I just used the sewing needle without heating it up because I realized that the pin lift quite easily.

Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong here? Pirate-M.Lifnen?

I really would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks
