As for if the battery starts getting hot, THROW IT AWAY! chances are that the Lithium Ion battery is compromised. Do not use it if you don't want your PSP (and your face) blown to smithereens. For future reference, go by my favorite phrase: if in doubt, throw it out. |
Thank you Thank you Thanks you, Seriously. I was really starting to feel bad for all my friends that still had the Phats. They all had the "Difficult" battery.
But, thanks to your 100% accurate post I just modded the first one of many and am updating it to 4.01 M33. Once again, thank you for an accurate easily followed post. |

I was scoring the battery to open with the blade and there were sparks n sum white smoke. its not open yet, tried the battery and its still werking. could i mess this up, whats going on?
* ok, its a day later and after reading the posts about explosive batterys im a bit worried. I opned the battery finaly and noticed a fine slit on the cell, not sure if its gone threw but its a visible line along it from when i was cutting the plastic. Ive charged it, and discharged it fully. Theres a minenoot smell but only when i put my nose to the battery. SHould i be throwin this battery away? I dont really wanna, money is tight!

@[FS]A: It's ultimately your choice if you want to gamble with the life of your PSP and yourself. I would seriously advise against using it but since you know the dangers, I can't make the decision for you. Just ask yourself the question, "is <insert amount of money for new PSP battery> really more than my PSP/life is worth?" and you should have your answer. Depending on how tight money was in my situation, I may have still gone through with it but only used it once... despite such severe risks. |

@Meatgull: If you see a chip on there that has "ICO 4" printed on it, look for a VERY small indent. That is the first pin and should be in the upper-left corner when looking at any diagrams. If you don't see "ICO 4" (I can't tell if there is a label even on there with the resolution of the picture) then I don't know what to do, sorry! Good luck! |

How to: Pandora's Battery - High Res Pics
Just modded my PSP today using this pandora battery method. IT worked great thanks. But I have one question, I plugged in my battery to my psp and the battery seems to work and lets me play games. Nothing seems to be wrong that I can see. It be great if someone could tell me if it's fine or not to use the pandora batt to run my psp and why. Because it seem to be working but I just want to be 100% sure if won't wreck anything. |
